I know femininity is making a comeback but this isn't right, this article. I think Janet Bloomfield is a staunch feminist trying to disguise herself as a true feminine woman just to start trouble. Or Janet was never allowed to watch Wonder Woman back in the 70's ^_^.

You'd have to amend the Constitution to enact this change.

It would have to be ratified by 38 states, and since women can currently vote, it would fail dramatically.

As it should.

The author's premise is basically that women shouldn't vote because she doesn't like their voting preferences.

We could all do that.

Mine would read: "Why Gun Owners Shouldn't Vote."

This author is the latest foe of democracy, and I strongly denounce her article.

Why assume anyone wants to enact this change?

Some are just of the view that women voting has been detrimental and, in fact, this was the argument against women voters since it became a question in the late 1800s.

It's interesting to see what comes to fruition many years later, on certain subjects, as it is my view that we often underestimate the wisdom of our ancestors or outright ignore or change it to suit our times.

Every woman I know is an advocate of women voting.

I think the article was a bit tongue in cheek.

I do think women should be drafted for combat duties any time men are drafted for combat duties. Trenches, artillery shells exploding, tanks, land mines, bayonet fixed and ready, blood to be shed.

Interesting, because I don't.

As a woman, I do not want to be involved in this kind of conflict but want to know we have strong men who are able to be engaged should it be necessary to defend the home etc.

Men and women aren't the same.

Maybe the issue here is that women voting to send men to war when they are exempt from the draft is a bit of a problem.

Correct. Which is why it was argued that women shouldn't vote as they aren't subject to some of the things they vote for/against.

Additionally, women were worried that special privelage of being a woman would be discontinued such as being exempt from the draft, jury duty etc.

So, it would be disingenuous to say these anti-suffragettes didn't have a point then and one that, I believe, stands today.

Interesting to think about from a historical point of view but also in the context of today and why this view is making a comeback by some.

By that logic, people (including men) with any sort of health problem that would make them ineligible to be drafted, should not be allowed to vote either.

Before we passed that 19th Amendment, all we did was ride around on bicycles built for two and sip cherry phosphates. Now we've got irritated bowel syndrome, mass shootings, and Cardi B. I rest my case.

Flat foot, no vote?

How about 'no land, no vote'?

There are so many options when you start figuring out who to take voting rights away.

Yikes. That article was astoundingly stupid. I'll certainly be glad if that contributor takes her own advice and abstains from voting. What a dingbat. At least they were smart enough not to attach their name to that submission, as far as I can see.

Interesting article.

One thing I noticed is that when women can vote, they always take over. I see two key reasons for this:

1. More women than men.
2. More men at the top and bottom of society equal split voting.

Women get an edge like a casino. Over time their priorities take over. And those priorities are unacceptable. Men are talking too. One thing they talk about is not getting married. Not worth it, they say.

Are you worried about the other "casino like" inequities in voting?

I live in a state where gerrymandering has resulted in my vote being irrelevant. Democrats are only about 35% of the population, but we don't have any Congressional representation, state government reputation. Although we are 35% in number, in the state legislature we have 18% of the representation (enough to give a supermajority to the other side.)

That's recent. Last time, before more gerrymandering, we had 22%. Oh, no, thought the Republicans! The people we don't represent have 22% of the state houses? For shame! We must bring that down to 18%.

Yes, and last November our state elected a professional liar (former WH press secretary Sanders) over a rocket scientist (MIT PhD with a divinity degree as well who worked for NASA and ran a technology think tank helping students and businesses in the state more competitive.)

Then, of course, we have the "casino like" inequities of the Electoral College.

Nationwide, if you add all the House of Representative votes together, they eked out their slim majority despite only getting about 47% of the popular vote. So once again, the casino is hurting me. We are being led around by the nose by the most incompetent extremists of the 435. George Santos. Recent GED grad Lauren Boebert. MTG. Gaetz. All due to gerrymandering nationwide.

Are we saying disabilities are genders now?
Wow! Think of the possibilities!
I'm not surprised in this current society, if so.........
Actually, there are people who feel disabled and have perfectly good limbs amputated. It seems to be part of the same strong delusion in our current society.
