• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi guys, I am new to this forum, my name is Sherry and I am currently going thru a bad withdrawl from Klonopin. I am really scared-I am hearing things, I am hyper-vigilent and I swear the walls are breathing. It is bad. I haven't slept right in 4 days now. I don't want to be addicted anymore. This is harsh though. I want to feel right again. Please pray for me!

MY DEAR SISTER,

What you are going through--apparently alone--IS NOT A GOOD THING!!!!! Call your Doctor IMMEDIATELY and go in to see him TODAY! If this is not an option, GO TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM and explain the situation to them. This type of withdrawal MUST be medically supervised!
PLEASE GET MEDICAL HELP NOW!
i will, of course, be praying for you as will others, but don't continue going this alone--PLEASE.

MUCH LOVE TO YOU IN CHRIST,
ephraim

in agreeement with ephraim, withdrawl from benzo type drugs can lead to a host of serious problems if not done with medical supervision......may i ask, how many klonapin (mg) a day you are taking? the higher the dose the more serious the outcome.....please call your dr and inform him/her at once, if they were medically prescribed..... if not tell them the truth, better safe then sorry.:prayer: :prayer: :prayer: :prayer: :prayer: :prayer:

Hi guys. What wonderful support. I just came home from a walk in urgent care clinic and the doctor was not subtle about what he thought of benzos. He said they are highly addictive. he would only give me a rx for 11/1 milligrams. To answer BlessedMoms question, I was taking 1 mg every day for almost 3 mos. So, I am going to work with what he has given me and taper. Any advice would be great about how to do it. I know it stays in your system for 35 hrs. I took a whole one as soon as I got them to combat the psychosis. Psychosis is a frightening thing. I am scared, but I also want to know "am I an addict?" you guys are so wonderful!

You will have to decide that for yourself in the end. The fact that you took a drug to a point that you are suffering severe withdrawels does hint strongly that there is a problem. Addiction has a mental and physical component. The physical component is not a factor if you aren't using it but the mental (psychological) aspect can cause cravings for long a time unless they are dealt with also.

Is the Klonopin during the last 3 months, the only mood altering substance that you have ever used? Have you had any history with other drugs, legal or otherwise, or maybe alcohol?

Hello,
Your story intrigues me because I have gone through everything you have or will go through. I was at a Christian rehabilitation and was getting off benzo's(valium and xxanex) and heavy opiate use. I thought I needed to be tapered and wanted to leave when I got there only to realize it was a cold turkey detox. Nevertheless, they gave me a choice to leave or to keep fighting because even with my tremors, psychosis, no energy, insomnia for 2 weeks, pains, stomach problems, and cold sweats; I was not going to be any better if i started tapering. It was a horrible 2 months and I still fight urges, but without God, I would not have the mental or physical strength to persevere through. It is a daily struggle that I am far from overcoming which is why it might help to know that your not the only one. I still second guess myself and I have to turn it over to God because I know he did not give us the spirit of fear.
