DOS => almost identical to QDOS, and before that, CP/M
Windows => was OS/2, stolen when their contract with IBM expired
Office => copied and bought
MS SQL Server => bought, was Sybase
Internet Explorer => based on MOSAIC
AD => LDAP in disguise... nothing new there...
.NET => bought out the 2 top developers from Borland, stole their ideas
C# => designed by the same guy who designed Delphi... basically Delphi made to look like java

nothing that m$ currently has was ever their own work.

Nice breakdown! Let's see one on the different components of Vista. It shoudn't be hard. ;)

Oh how cute... 5 pages of nothing but "l33t" Apple people ripping on Microsoft... joy (read = Laaaame).

Does anyone stop to think about the fact that it takes longer to develop a Microsoft OS because more is expected of it than Apple? How about the fact that it has to be made to be compatible with about 100x as many types of software, unlike the handful for Apple? No... of course not, just go on bashing Microsoft and Gates.

oh you enjoy it too? Or the Linux guys...yeah keep refering linux guys...its still almost impossible to use for the most common person its a GEEK OS. Nothing else. Its good for SERVERS not personal use. I use Linux @ home and @ work. I have too, its my job, but I hate it, its not user friendly...Windows IS. I use Apple as well...for graphics and video editing. I like it, its not bad, but I will stick with Windows. I know my way around the OS. I know how to fix it if its get FUBARd.

Good points Deacon and CapitolLancer... personally I'm looking forward to Vista. Not saying that I was pleased when support being dropped for W2k was announced, in fact, I got ticked. It did spur me on to check out SuSE, and I did like it. The way I'm viewing all this now is like tools for the job at hand... you can use a handplane in lieu of a hammer in a pinch, but without at least a chisel handy, the hammer isn't subtle enough on it's own. Windows is more user friendly, easier to learn, and in use in most buisinesses you come across. Never have seen Microsoft as a "wheel creator", but is very adept at creating spokes, rim, tube, tire from stuff already on the shelf. Like anything, if you're interested in something, you'll not view figuring it out as work, probably more closely see it as at least "fun". Unless you're reallllly into computers, and have a keen interest in "server-stuff", Windows will resemble a closer association to "fun". Think that's the majority of the reason behind Windows' popularity, most folks just want to use their computer, not feel like they are chained to a form of digital purgatory. :) At this point, Mac, and Linux users are better served demonstrating to Windows users how using a Mac or Linux to perform a Windows associated task is easier, faster, more "fun" with their bit-pushers.

Just my 2¢

lol good video! Ever since switching to Mac OSX, I can never go back to Windows. Windows is more clumsy, not as refined, not as stable as OSX. Plus my Mac runs Pro Tools far better than my Windows box ever did. And I can do real multitasking in OSX, handles it with ease.

Well if you don't need a PowerMac for professional use, then the Mac Mini or even the iMac are certainly affordable alternatives. You can do it, make the switch! :D
...You can do it, make the switch:D hahaha:D ... gonna have to wait till at least a WinFS version of Vista is released + the legal ability to dual-boot. Man, I'd love to have one... must be patient... must be patient... must be patient... :help: Right now, you can't load Delphi in a Mac. Yes, must be patient...

Software is made compatible with the OS, not the OS with the software. It isn't like MS is coding Windows, making sure that previous versions of software like WinMine will work with it. This is just done by including previous libraries the software calls on.

The real challenge MS has to work on is the millions of lines of sloppy code they have to continually work with. Mac OS X used a core operating system that was already developed and spent their time tuning it and developing the graphical interface for the system.

I use Linux as my home operating system, works fine for me. It is a lot less frustrating than Windows, though OS X is still better- as long as you don't mind paying out thousands of dollars for a system.

I took a break from Apple when they announced going to Intel back in the summer. I had enough of their games by that point.
