We are told The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. People fail to understand what the firmament is in Genesis 1:6 KJV. Also in the story of Noah we read about the windows of Heaven being opened. This again has to do with the firmament and the way the firmament handles light and water. We can esp see this on the moon where the astronauts have to wear a special visor to filter the light because the firmament on the moon is different from the firmament here on earth. Esp we have to be careful with UV light. Although I like to work with neon and uv lighting.

The raqia is the sky above our heads, also is known as the 1st heaven
Can you show us the windows in it, that open to let rain down? Or are those just figurative like so many other things in Genesis? Tell us about it.

Water falls when it becomes to heavy to stay in the clouds. So it has to do with gravity. This is also called a firmament. To seperate the waters above from the waters below. God created fish and birds at the same time. It is as if the birds swim through the air or water above the way fish swim through the "water below".

Sorry, I should not change subjects like that.

No problem. So you think the windows in the sky are figurative?
Everything in the Bible is literal and figurative. My mom got an A in Chemistry but I am not good enough to figure out the science on that. There is also a verse about windows that has to do with God's blessings.

Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

Where do you think the manna bread or the quails came from which fed the Israelite's in the wilderness ?

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain down bread from heaven for you Exodus 16-4.

If I could find Bruce Fellers book on "walking the bible" He had something in there on that. But I can not find the book right now.

When it comes to rockets taking off the term launch window is used. Obviously figurative but also a real thing.

Pretty much like the "days" of the creation story. Just because they are figurative doesn't mean that they don't refer to a real thing. A launch window is a figurative term, referring to something real, but non-material. Like the days of Genesis.

It is explicitly stated to be God providing for His people. Whether miraculous or natural is unclear.

I've never had any qualms about the days being literal days, because God is omnipotent and probably operates outside of our concept of linear time anyways. To say God would need longer than six days doesn't make any sense to me. As for planetary evolution, all God had to do was make a fully developed earth the same as he made a fully developed man. It's not like Adam started out as an embryo that took 20 years to become the Adam we're told about. It was most likely immediate.

I found something on that. Clearly we are talking about the Botany of plants in the Middle East.

I just read this article about Manna Bread & I was just about to become deluded with the whole Bible, but fortunately at the end of this article it reads ;

As for the Bible’s double portion (lechem mishneh) of manna on Friday, the one large enough to last for two days, no one has yet found a scientific explanation.
PHEW!

And what about the Quails that rained down & don't forget how Jesus fed the 5,000 ?????

I don't recall the specifics off hand but I don't recall it being said that the manna was some totally supernatural substance. It could be though that it didn't exist before the time of Exodus since they had never seen it before and had no idea what it was. And also maybe it was in greater abundance than usual to feed so many people.

As for the quail, they can fly and it could be that God just caused a quail infestation. I've heard of other bird infestations were hundreds of some species will suddenly come out of nowhere.

The fish and the loaves was pure miracle.
