William Barr Supported Pardons In An Earlier D.C. 'Witch Hunt': Iran-Contra
This won't be the first time that William Barr, President Trump's nominee to become attorney general, will be involved with what's been called a "witch hunt."

Barr, who is scheduled to go before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday for his confirmation hearings, ran the Justice Department once before, under President George H.W. Bush.

Back then, the all-consuming, years-long scandal was called Iran-Contra. On Dec. 24, 1992, it ended when Bush pardoned six people who had been caught up in it.

"The Constitution is quite clear on the powers of the president and sometimes the president has to make a very difficult call," Bush said then. "That's what I've done."

Then-Attorney General Barr supported the president's decision in the Iran-Contra case, which gave clemency to people who had been officials in the administration of President Ronald Reagan, including former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger. He had been set to go on trial to face charges about lying to Congress.

Someone has to be the new target. Lol

Yep...

Incoming New York Attorney General Letitia James said she plans to thoroughly investigate the business dealings of President Donald Trump and his family when she takes office next month.

“We want to investigate anyone in his orbit who has, in fact, violated the law,” James told NBC News.

James, the city’s public advocate since 2014, was elected to the NY AG post this past November to succeed Barbara Underwood. Underwood has already taken some action against Trump’s network: in June she filed suit against Trump, his eldest three children, and the Trump Foundation for mishandling of charitable funds.

James told NBC she plans to continue investigations into the Trump Foundation, along with a number of other points of contention including Trump’s New York real estate holdings, the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian official, government subsidies Trump may have received, and whether or not his New York businesses violate the emoluments clause in the U.S. Constitution.

And the specific crimes targeted by New York, were not brought forward by Mueller. Turns out, Trump can't pardon state crimes, and if Mueller had issued indictments, then double jeopardy would have been an issue.

Probably just a coincidence...

Lol they want to double down with a hand full of nothing.

That's what Trump said before Mueller took out his underlings, one after the other. He's pretty shook; so much so that he lied about the report, claiming that it cleared him of obstruction. Even his AG has announced that it did not clear him of obstruction.

In his letter, Barr explains that Mueller decided there was not sufficient evidence to “establish” that Trump or his associates were involved in Russian interference into the 2016 presidential election. But according to Barr, Mueller didn’t draw any conclusions or make any decisions about the second part of his investigation: whether Trump obstructed justice by interfering in the investigation of Russian interference. This could have included firing FBI Director James Comey in May 2017, a decision that Comey said Trump made after asking Comey to “go easy” on Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Why Trump isn’t being charged with obstruction — even though Mueller didn’t exonerate him

If he has no reason to be afraid, why is he acting as if he is?

Who exactly in his administration?

LOL don't think so.

Well it did. Did you see any indictments for obstruction?

Even his AG has announced that it did not clear him of obstruction.
Again, no indictments. Meaning he did not need to be cleared of anything. One is only cleared when there are allegations leading to the substance of an indictment. That Mueller issued none really means he could not prosecute for obstruction. That is indeed the definition of 'cleared.'

Can you offer any evidence he is afraid? What I've seen is one who looks vindicated and now ready for a fight.

2 years of this nonsense and now 72 hours of silence from the Left you would expect them to fold as this has been embarrassing for them.

The only one who is afraid right now that I can see is Brennan.

Can you offer any evidence he is afraid?

If he has any sense, he is. From a fellow republican:

Trump Should Worry About the Southern District of New York More Than Mueller, Christie Says
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said the Southern District of New York presents more of a “problem and a threat” to President Donald Trump than special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

While Mueller can only investigate potential collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign, the SDNY has no limit to the scope of what they can investigate.

“I always said that Bob Mueller is not what should concern the President or the White House. That’s the Southern District of New York,” said Christie, speaking to CNN‘s Chris Cuomo Thursday night.

Aside from the lack of limitations, Christie said the SDNY could benefit from Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen and Trump’s deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates, both of whom could act as “tour guides” through Trump’s “business and personal life.”
Chris Christie Said Trump Should Worry About the Southern District of New York More Than Mueller

Christie is a former prosecutor, who is very aware of the vulnerability of Trump and his family. And he seems to have called this one right.

What I've seen is one who looks vindicated and now ready for a fight.

That's what he was looking like just before he caved and settled out of court in his trail for fraud in the fake "Trump University" scam.

That's what he was looking like just before he caved and stopped the government shutdown on Pelosi's terms.

That's what he looked like just before he caved and surrendered his fake "Trump Foundation" to New York authorities.

"I never settle lawsuits!" - Donald Trump

So it's pretty much just mouth.

2 years of this nonsense

And most of us have lost count of the number of Trump criminals indicted, convicted, or pleading guilty. As one former prosecutor said, if it's a witch hunt, it's the most successful witch hunt in the history of man.

and now 72 hours of silence from the Left you would expect them to fold as this has been embarrassing for them.

Your hopes seem to be in vain. Mueller apparently outmaneuvered Trump again, avoiding any indictments that could be dealt with by the state of New York, away from Trump's ability to pardon them.

The only one who is afraid right now that I can see is Brennan.

Doesn't seem like it. His views, as you know, have been largely vindicated by the numerous Trump perps taken down.

Christie is also out of a job right now. How many "experts" graced the sets of CNN and MSNBC over the past two years beating the same drum? Dozens last count.

Check here for the number of administration and campaign officials taken down:
Here's all of the charges from Mueller's Russia probe

He's pretty shook.

LOL don't think so.

As I showed you, he always blusters and struts just before he caves.

so much so that he lied about the report

Another false narrative I need to "track down?"

"No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION," Trump tweeted. "KEEP AMERICA GREAT!"

According to Barr, the Mueller report does largely exonerate Trump on the collusion question — but it’s a stretch based on Barr’s letter to call it a "complete and total exoneration," as Trump did.

What Barr said about collusion is favorable for Trump. But Barr’s letter also says Trump was not exonerated on the question of obstruction in Mueller's report.

Fact-checking Donald Trump's claims of exoneration
Well it did. Did you see any indictments for obstruction?

Well it did.

Nope. Barr admitted that it didn't. And we don't know what is in it that Trump wants to hide from us. If it cleared him of all criminal culpability, he'd he'd have released it immediately.

The fact that Trump felt compelled to lie about it, tells us he has a very good reason for continuing to hide it from the American people.

So it is back to Stormy Daniels again.

If the court finds that Trump did pay for her hush money, that would be a felony, yes. But there's much more than that, in potential obstruction.

And they're just getting into the Inaugural misconduct. Lots left to do. I expect Congress will be going through the findings, as will the AG of New York.

No it would not. If Cohen paid the money from campaign funds then it will be a campaign finance violation and they pay the fine like Obama did in 2012.

So it is about Stormy Daniels...

But there's much more than that, in potential obstruction.
There it is again. We've heard this mantra for 2 years. Is there a sane prosecutor left in Justice to actually go fishing again.

And they're just getting into the Inaugural misconduct.
Another nothing burger.

I expect Congress will be going through the findings, as will the AG of New York.
I'm sure they will much to their political demise. Even Nancy Pelosi is seeing the danger of making 2020 about "investigation" and not the issues. Why she is speaking of healthcare now instead which is smart.

No it would not.

Yep. It's not a "mistake", it's a felony. Cohen is going to prison for it. If Trump paid for her hush money, he's guilty, too.

If Cohen paid the money from campaign funds then it will be a campaign finance violation and they pay the fine like Obama did in 2012.

Obama paid a inappropriate content star to cover up his adultery with her? C'mon. You really think anyone is going to believe that?

Barbarian observes:

Yep. And Cohen has the email in which the offer of a pardon was dangled before him.

We've heard this mantra for 2 years. Is there a sane prosecutor left in Justice to actually go fishing again.

Even as staunch an advocate of presidential authority as William Barr agreed in his confirmation hearings that dangling pardons could be obstruction of justice. “Do you believe a president could lawfully issue a pardon in exchange for the recipient’s promise to not incriminate him?” asked Senator Pat Leahy. “No. That would be a crime,” replied Barr.

You think Barr is sane?

Another nothing burger.

Said Richard Nixon. It's going to be a rough ride from here.
