Will we be able to sleep in heaven?

I remember someone on these boards that had a heaven with jobs. It takes all kinds. If heaven does indeed have jobs sleep and coffee breaks should be included.

Right! But, the question I ask myself about this is will I have a desire to sleep in Heaven. Our bodies won't need it since it is immortal, so it will not get tired and need to to recuperate. We tend to enjoy sleeping so much that the Word of God warns us in Proverbs:
Proverbs 20:13
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

Since I am retired now I really enjoy sleepin until mid morning. But I remembeer hating to wake up to go to school or to work. LOL^_^

We enjoy sleep now because our bodies need it and crave it. In heaven we won't need it or crave it. So the enjoyment we get from it on earth we probably won't get the same enjoyment in heaven.

Oooh! NEVER!^_^ I don't consider myself lazy. Early morning waking up was anethema to me! When I started my nursing career, I chose to work evening and night shifts.:D

Same with me! I was always a night owl even as a kid. I've worked overnight shifts most of my working life. I love moving to a different beat from most of society. I love the empty streets on the way to work at night (no rush hour) and the empty streets on the way home in the early mornings. :D I love going to stores in the early morning after work when the store is just opening and no one is in there. :D Plus I love being out before the hot sun comes out and after it has set in the evenings. And I get extra pay on top of it!

I don't believe in the rapture. I think we will have new bodies that will never tire or wear out.

There won't be a morning or night either. Just always day time, lit by God's glory. :)

...I would like to add that our bodies in Heaven will be the same type as Lord Jesus had/has after the resurrection.

this just crossed my mind today. And I was curious what other peoples thoughts were. Here on earth sleeping is a biological need for our bodies to function and also for many of us its a way to get away from our daily stresses or get through illness.

However there are many times in life that resting, closing my eyes and sleeping is more of a peaceful moment. Whether its laying out in the grass and listening to the birds or napping to the smell of the grass, trees and just life. There are also many times I'm fully at peace smelling and listening to the rain and resting. If these are enjoyable and peaceful things in nature wouldn't they exist in heaven to a certain degree?
oh my goodness, yes you are right, it's feels really good and is so peaceful to break-away from the norms of life and just REST, it feels really great & because we're in this fleshly suit, we need that rest, but maybe when we die and God gives us our heavenly bodies, we won't get weary and tired & have to take breaks, God our father doesn't sleep, (Psalms 121:3-4), & i've asked God in the past, "are our heavenly mansions going to have bedrooms?" (John 14:2) (smile).

The angels have no need to rest, and neither shall we. Isn't it rather wonderful to look forward to a body that doesn't have the limitations and challenges of our physical body?
Absolutely! Absolutely! Absolutely!, I too look forward to a body that doesn't have any limitations. (smile)

The second coming of Christ. The rapture was invented in the 19th century.
I just pointed out scriptures (1 Cor 15:50-51) about the rapture, written a few years after the resurrection of Christ. You completely ignored it and your only rebuttal is that the rapture was invented in the 19th century? Is that the best you can come up with?

What purpose would it serve, to sleep in heaven?

I personally think we wouldn't even get the same pleasure from sleeping in heaven as we do here on earth because we won't have the biological need for it or the stress or fatigue that makes us want it. The physical need for it is what makes it enjoyable. Up there we'll be like kids who hate taking naps. The world (heaven) will be too exciting for sleep and we'll be full of endless energy. Too much to see, do and explore. We can do whatever we want, go where ever we want with no need for money or worry of danger. Just exploring the natural scenery and nature and wildlife in heaven will keep us busy for a long time! Image the species of animals up there that don't exist on earth. Imagine the mountains and geography and natural wonders. Not to mention visiting with all of our past relatives. Meeting and talking with angels too. Who will have time for sleep? :)

Will we be able to sleep in heaven?

That is a question I have occasionally wondered about.
There doesn't seem to be scripture which directly addresses it.
Also doesn't seem to be scripture which almost-directly addresses it in a way which satisfies me.
So I will find out when I get there.
