  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Will not be remembered or mentioned.

Isa 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

So when there is the new heaven and the new earth, we won't remember this.

Thoughts?

Because of the surpassing wonderfulness of the new, no one will miss the old.
Its like replacing a ratty old rusted out hulk of a car with a brand new one you have been dreaming about. Or changing from wearing rags to new suits.

“You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11 They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
12 Like a cloak You will fold them up,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will not fail.”

Maybe people will remember the good things, but not the bad. Who knows, right?
This is a great example of something written in scripture not being regarded as true.

The verse is for saved people, who will participate in the age of the Resurrection. Hell does not get remade, it does get thrown in the lake of fire ( I assume that exists, but maybe something new too) along with everyone in hell .

Do you know what the Jews referred to as "the Heavens and the Earth?"

Whatever it was, it was the wrong idea.

Revelation 21 New King James Version (NKJV)
All Things Made New
1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

And do you know what "there was no more sea" refers to? (This is a very important point... having nothing at all to do with bodies of water. In fact, THIS is the essense of Christianity.)

Everything is new, its not just a makeover. The old is gone, the new is here.
However, we will have memories of the past.
God first creates New Creations in Christ. Then He will make new heavens and new earth.
Out with the old, in with the new. The old was corrupted by evil, the new will not be corruptible.

And there are yet ages to come which Paul hints at, not just the end of an age as in the end of this current evil age.

Ephesians 1:21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Ephesians 2:7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Our coming inheritance is incorruptible as are we if born again.

1 Peter 1:4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

This life is fallen, everything is fallen, even our memories were memories of a fallen world. In the next age, when there is no more pain, sorrow, and sin, it will be forgotten. We will live in a renewed earth where God's glory will be fully manifested for all eternity.

Yet it is interesting that in that same book we read this

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. 24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh." (Isaiah 66:22-24)

Since the new heaven and the new earth will have no sun or moon, but God will be the light of it. Which era does Isaiah 66 speak of?
