  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Will heaven really be that nice?

God is the true source of every good that exists. Hell is the opposite - without the presence of God their is absolutely NOTHING good there at all.

Try reading C S Lewis "The Great Divorce". That will give you something solid to think about.

I completely agree with that statement. Try reading some Revelation also.

And no, you shouldn't be lonely, especially if you alread pray right? Your forgetting God is the ultimate friend. Plus, think about Paul, Peter, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Abraham, Moses, David, and all those other people that experienced the things in the bible! I know I wouldn't be bored.

Plus, either way you look at it:
Literal: Hell vs. Heaven
Your way: pure evil vs. lonliness
Johnnz's way: pure evil vs. pure good
My way: satan and deamons vs. God and all those bible people

Anyway you look at it heaven is way better than hell!

Just wondering after I talked with my dad about this.
He said that I would be happy in heaven when I go there eventually (hopefully!) but I'm not sure. I'm sure there are nice people there, but none of my friends now are dead, so who would keep me company? It seems I would be lonely.

Stop thinking of Heaven as a physical location you travel to, and start thinking of it as a state of mind, and this problem goes away.

Just but a few scriptures that bless me so to think of what Heaven will be like. The thing IMO that will bless us the most is to be able to see our Lord and Savior finally face to face (I'm gonna want to run into his arms and hug him forever for loving me so..) and be with Him and live in His love forever.

"and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection." Luke 20:36

I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. Rev 21:22-27

"After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands." Revelation 7:9

"For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." Revelation 7:17

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4

Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

"Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready" Rev 19:6,7

Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43
Remember - our "citizenship is in Heaven", not here - so we'll really be going to our real home to be with our Father and His Son....:amen:

Well, I plan on doing more than just floating around and playing a harp, singing praises to God...

And yes we will recieve perfect bodies, that won't be able to be harmed in any way or age.

Why does Jesus say that God comes to dwell with man in the new earth if all you lot think you are going to heaven instead to meet him, it just might indeed be lonely there in heaven on your own  :

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Also , a point that Solomon made, the dead know nothing, one is not concious in death , one cannot suffer again until resurrected ... and as Jesus showed, one is resurrected toa physical body , just as he was after crucifixion... death and resurrection is very different from translation to the spirit....

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

If this is your concept of heaven, I truly believe you are in danger of going to the place where you are sure to be unimaginatively lonely. Jesus loves true treasure hunters, so I would suggest you study the 4 Gospels like you've never studied them before. I say this because I am very concerned about you I.B.

OF COURSE HEAVEN IS GOING TO BE NICE!!!!!!!!!!! You can do anything there, well, anything God would agree with. Plus you will get to be with all of these people you've read about and learn their stories. Most of all, you get to be with the Leaders whom you've served your whole life for, God/Jesus. Sometimes I get so excited about going to Heaven, I just wish I could go now. (no, I'm not saying I WANT to die)

As far as I believe, one will receive a new body in heaven, so no earthly suffering will ever come to you in eternity.
Yes, that is most correct. Since the only true way to get to Allah and eternal peace is of course to sacrifice onesself for the greater good, if we did not receive new bodies we would all be in scattered chunks.

Apparently you get a warm fuzzy feeling in heaven, knowing that anyone you've ever loved who didn't share your belief system is being burned and tormented pretty close by :amen:
What blashphemy:sigh: ...Sorry, no, in heaven you have no BAD AND EVIL feelings such as that.

In hell however, I believe, people will weep knowing what they missed. I am NOT happy for that...it would be saddening to see:cry:

First off, it's absolutely impossible for an atheist to blaspheme. I'm not attacking god, because I don't believe god exists, so I'm just attacking a concept - a word attached to a fictional character. Even if god does exist, I'm not attacking him personally - I'm just attacking what I believe is a fictional character from some book.

It was sarcasm. Obviously it wouldn't be a warm fuzzy feeling, but instead a sickening, gut wrenching feeling.

They will weep knowing what they missed, but also scream in agony as they are tortured for all eternity.

When you are in heaven, will the thought never cross your mind that everyone you've ever loved who didn't share your belief system is suiffering in a way you cannot even imagine, for all eternity, every second of every day?

If you never have bad thoughts in heaven, does that mean god takes away your free-will to have these thoughts, or changes your personality?

If so, will you still be you?

I don't think we will think of such things in heaven. Why would you have bad thoughts in a perfect place? Why would you want to think of others in torture? I think, as a Christian, we all want to get away from bad thoughts, and so, in heaven, God doesn't let them exist. I'll be who God wants me to be. If he wants to take away my "free-will", or change my personality, I want him to. He changes our personalities everyday.

An answer to your last question, yes I will still be me, but in another way, I won't. We will be very different there than here. We will be like ourselves, only "perfected".

I realize this is hard for everyone to understand at times, especially for an atheist. All of us get doubts. But we cannot imagine what will happen, for our human minds do not have the vastness to understand what God can, and will, do.
