Let me just preface with letting you all know that I am a Christian, Saved, and Baptized. I have been all my life. I'm 35 years old, a husband and father.

I'm active duty military, and for most of my life, I have not behaved like a Christian would, a follower of Christ. I am a sinner, and I continue to sin. I feel bad about it. I try and do better, but I always end up sinning again.

My wife and children are Saved and Baptized. My wife and I grew up in Baptist Churches. I really don't have a denomination anymore. I used to read the Bible all the time when I was a teenager.

Now on to my question. Whenever I hear a Christian song that touches my heart, I start to cry. When I talk to my Children about Jesus, I cry. When I pray, sometimes I cry. When I watch a movie, like King of Kings, or the Ten Commandments, or The Passion, or even a movie with peoples lives being touched by God, I cry. Not bawling per say, just tears streaming out.

I don't cry at any other time. I'm not an over emotional person. Some people find me rather stoic and have told me this.

When we sit in Church and a person gets up and sings a devotional to Jesus, I weep. I can't control it.

Why does this happen?

Why does this happen?
God is drawing you to Himself in a deeper way.
Your spirit man desires God above all and yet your fallen nature pulls away.

I believe that your Spirit man weeps before the Lord in intercession
and brokeness and longs for the Lord as he grieves over the loss of many
opportunities to draw closer to God and your sins.

It is good to humble yourself before the Lord and to be broken and
repentant before the Lord as your heart turns from stone to flesh again.

Rejoice in this process as it is from the Lord as He desires to bring you closer to
Himself as the old nature is being put down with all its sinful desires.

I went through a few years of this.....

It was liberating to let my spirit soar and be free to express love, joy
and tearful sorrow over my sins and failures and to allow a softening of my stoney heart.

It is healing....
It is a beginning of a change for the better.
It is God working in your life to take you foward.

Let the love of God flood your soul and weep for joy as He is
working a deep work in your very soul that will set you free
and bring about a closer walk with Him.

I use to weep to the point of having tears and snot running down my face
and I did not want it to stop as in that moment I was pouring out my very
self to the Lord, my true self, my spirit man who loves God with all
his strength, might and all...

It is being set free.......

I am sure many did not understand but I did not care.

I am a better man for these experiences and I have a greater desire
to follow the Lord no matter what than ever before, I wouldn't
trade those experiences for anything.

God bless you and may He continue to break off all the hardness of
your heart and bring healing, release, love, joy, peace and a renewed
heart of love for others and the Lord......

Brother the same exact thing happened to me for a long time. I noticed that I was desiring a closer relationship with God but wasent sure how to do it. Actually,I shouldn't say wasn't because I still am discovering how to get closer to Him.

When I was living my life far away from God what you describe happened AF the times you mentioned but my big thing was the music. My dad was in a gospel group and when I would hear him sing a praise song the tears started flowing. I discovered it was the Holy Spirit convicting me.

God loves you. Jesus is calling you home - to Himself.
You need to give up sins and fully commit to Jesus. You need Him, and He loves you

I'd add but everyone said what I would have lol.

It is indeed God drawing you in closer. I am a pretty mushy guy in general but at church I cry often now. Mind you I to wandered away from God for many years. Now that I am back I can feel his love and regret that I ever wandered so far away from a God that loves me endlessly, even while in times of rebellion.

Yes it is the Holy Spirit in you, He is quickening you. Whoever has the Holy Spirit, streams of living water will flow.

I asked God what these tears meant when I found myself crying in church. The Holy Spirit always points to Jesus.

Ok. So I read about Holy Spirit quickening.

I believe this is what has been happening to me.

I am happy and feel honored that Jesus would do this for me.

Although I never know wether to say God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit?

All are ONE but Jesus did teach us to go to the Father in His name because
it pleases God the Father that we honor, recognize, love, adhere to,
trust in and follow, God the Son.

For this reason I come to my heavenly Father through Jesus Christ.

I always desire to honor the one who made it possible for me to have access to the Father.

I usually start my prayers like this...Father, in Jesus name I come to You...
And I end my prayers like this...In Jesus name I pray.

You must remember that no one can come to the Father except through
God the Son, Jesus Christ.

No other name is given to men whereby they can be saved but in Jesus alone
do we have access to God the Father.

I often pray directly to Jesus for personal matters in which I am wanting to change,
grow or need personal healing or guidance but for other matters
concerning others I will pray to the Father in Jesus name....

I will thank Jesus directly and worship Him as God and then at other times I will
worship the Father in the same way.

I am probably confusing you but I can't really nail it down because it is a moment by moment thing...

I may be thinking upon all that Christ has done for me so I will worship Him and
then I will realize that God the Father sent His son so I will worship and adore Him.

Sometimes I will be thinking upon Jesus healing the sick and so I will pray
and ask Jesus the healer to come and touch me and heal me also.

When someone is in need of more of the Holy Spirit in their lives I will pray to the Father in Jesus
name and ask Him to sent the Holy spirit to comfort a person because Jesus taught us that the Holy
Spirit is sent from the Father to those who ask Him for more of His Spirit.

The only one I do not pray to is the Holy Spirit....

Why you might ask?

Because the Holy Spirit is so selfless that He points to God the Father and God the Son but
never speaks of Himself so He would not desire that we would come to Him but that we would go
to the Father or the Son.

John 16:13
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for
He will not speak on His own authority
, but whatever He hears He will speak;
and He will tell you things to come.

The Holy Spirit does not speak of His own authority but He speaks what He has heard from the
Father and the Son and that is what He will speak.
He is selfless and points us to God the Father and God the Son and
nowhere in the Bible is there ever an example of anyone ever speaking to God
the Holy Spirit but we have many examples of God speaking to other through the Holy Spirit.

Hope this helps you....

What do you mean quickening me?

I believe the term quickening is mean to say restoring vigor, bringing life to, reviving you.

I would not say anything different than the people who have posted on this thread would say. It sounds like the Holy Spirit is working in you to bring you closer to the lord. If you are talking with your family about the Lord, if you are teaching your children his values and his ways then you are following the Lord and you are doing well in it.

Perhaps a change of venue of worship service is required. Perhaps you are lacking something in your current worship service and this causes you to wander subconsciously what it is you are missing.

Or perhaps it is simply the holy spirit moving in you. Whatever the case may be, I know that when things deeply touch me on that level I do weep as well so you are in fine company if I do say so myself.

P.S. - A friend and I have quantified a term "Committed Christian" it is the state of being where one has made a conscious decision to be committed to Christ. Many people get saved, get baptized, and .... well get lost. I did it, it sounds like you did too. When I got back into fellowship with fellow Christians, Got back into the Word, and renewed my conscious contact with the Father, I became a committed-Christian. You could say it is the difference between being called a Christian, and BEING a Christian.

Although I never know wether to say God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit?

I think a book that would answer that question is "The Spiritual Man" by Watchman Nee you can find a free pdf version of it online. The one I use is from telus.net I hope you enjoy it.

Sincerely-
Pastor Frye

I've been going to a Baptist church that I am going to join soon. I am still having tears come out when in church while singing or if the sermon touches my heart. Also while reading the Bible or biblical articles alone.

When I think of how powerful and merciful our God is it just overwhelms me. Jesus mercy and love is so powerful. I can't help it but the tears just come out.

I can't sing the songs that I really like because I start choking up.

Watched the series The Bible recently, now I talk to my wife all the time regarding the Gospel. I don't have any problems.

While we were watching the series however, any time she asked me a question about it I just couldn't answer, I nearly cried a few times trying lol.

I'm a fairly tough guy so it was like really weird.

Worst thing about it was so many times I wanted to pause the show, and tell her about the parts; when they were doing a hatchet job on the actual biblical narrative, I just couldn't.

Weirdest thing haha!

When God saved me 35+ years ago I truly wept for the first time. Since then, I cry easily in worship of my Lord. (I keep a stash of Kleenexes in my Bible.:))

I recently heard a man speak and he claimed, in humor, he suffered emotional incontinence. Immediately, I thought "That's my affliction!" It's kind of heartwarming to hear about others having the same affliction. Support group, anyone? Weepers Anonymous (WA)

God is working deeper into your heart. He wants you to be closer to Him than you have been. He is giving you a chance to go deeper, to be closer, to truly embrace His love. Grab it! Chances like this don't come around often.

Tears wash our spirits. You are crying more because you are feeling God's sorrow, and His love. He cries for you. Never be ashamed of crying before the Lord. Your tears are precious to Him.

Well folks, it's been 3 years. An amazing 3 years at that. He has blessed me far greater than anything I deserve. I had a real heart to heart with the Lord and let me just say that He touched my heart like never before. It is something I will never forget till the day I die. Following Him is my goal everyday.

I think about Him all the time. He is always in my thoughts. I want to please Him with my actions.

I thank Him almost every day. I ask for forgiveness and for the Holy Spirit to lead me.

The tears still flow just like the day I posted this 3 years ago. Like I said before, I don't cry any other time, but when I think about the Lord they just come out. I think it's a good thing. He has softened my hard heart.

I think about all that the Lord has revealed and done for me, and if people only knew and would humble themselves, they would see too. I share the gospel when I can and try to be an example and not a hindrance.

I would like to share this video with you folks. I hope you enjoy it.

it's not a problem; it's a good sign of a tender heart toward God - it just bugs your manly flesh and angers the devil, that's all :)
