Well, some are theists of different religions. Others are just being smart aleck, and some perhaps have troubling issues that would be genuine prayer requests (if they believed in such things) and are open-minded enough to take a chance.

Some people are confused about their faith and are not yet ready to call themselves Christian but would like support from Christians through prayer. Others have no real faith/are agnostic and would again like support. For somepeople even if they don't believe in prayer/God the thought that somebody cares and is offering thoughts and prayers can be a comfort. I have non-Christian friends that have asked for prayer in the past as they know that by praying for them I am trying to support them on a deeper level.

And others I guess are just trying to cover all bases?

The guy may be test driving a new model to see how it performs. Let's see if Jesus can respond to this. Allah wasn't much chop. Budda didn't get off his butt.

Buddhists don't pray to Buddha, they don't pray at all.. they chant as part of their meditation, to attain a higher level of conciousness.

Because they need an "ear" so to speak. Maybe they trust Christian pray can move the hands of God. Inner peace? I don't think there will be a satisfactory answer for it.

But we welcome pray requests. It doesn't harm us to intercede on others behalf.

I don't like that "take a chance" stuff. No Faith in it. Without Faith, it is impossible to please God.

I would like to think there are at least some people who are convicted, knowing they haven't "lead a Christian life," don't deserve to be able to approach God, yet know beyond doubt that He is, is a rewarder of those that seek Him, and that nothing is too hard for Him.

Such a person has more than a "chance" of getting their prayer answered, if the request is something good that is clearly within the boundaries of God's will! IMHO.

if they are theists of different religions, why would they turn to christian prayer... still confused about this sub section of the forum.

Because Christian prayer works and it is permanent!!!

I can only speak from personal experience. But for me, it's to be a smart alec. OR sometimes, because it's just a fun tradition.

I used to be a believer, and was taught how to pray, and when to pray, ect...
So sometimes, when a family member wants to pray for me, I say "Sure, go for it". My ENTIRE family is Christian, so what can you do?

It's like how my parents still label a gift or two as "from Santa", even though we both know it's just them. Its tradition.

I just happened across this. On my behalf i was raised to pray for all. If a stranger come to you and asked you for prayer would you turn your back and say no. I wouldnt. NO matter what your faith is are we all not deserving of a prayer. I would hope that we all are deserving of a prayer . I was raised Baptist. Would it not be the same if i asked for prayer. I will always say a prayer for anyone who ask.
