Why would Jesus rather we be cold than lukewarm?

Wait...are you saying that you think The Revelation of John was only for the Laodicians?

No, I believe Revelation 3:14-22 was directed to the Laodicians.

But let's go back for a moment to the "water" bit. Let's review a few translations:

Where does the discussion of "water" even come into it, inasmuch as very few translations even use it?

The point that you miss with your understanding is that Jesus expects His people to be different from their surroundings, a peculiar people who do not blend in.

Jesus spit out something from his mouth in this analogy. What were the Laodicians being compared to if not lukewarm water?

Could be lentil soup, lamb stew, any liquid food.

Wealthy men could send servants to the mountain tops to run back with snow. Or to a stream to run back with cool water.

Jesus was not a wealthy man, and spent much of his life on the road. Most of the water He drank in his life on earth was probably lukewarm. Lukewarm water is not a problem that would cause a man to automatically spit it out--it may not have been preferable, but it's not toxic.

But food not kept hot or cool spoils quickly, and that danger would have been well known.

Does this mean your issue is with the historical accuracy of the water supply statement only and not the interpretation of the analogy of those who use this fact? Because the same conclusions can be made when lukewarm water is replaced with lukewarm food.

Doesn't that mean that if we can't be on fire for Jesus all the time then He'd rather we live like we're on a highway to hell?

everyone can believe in, worship, serve and stay faithful to Him, but i can't promise that everyone will be able to do/achieve as much as anyone else... - i mean there is a righteous root/core of faithfulness to Him, but will everyone be able at any time to do/achieve the most or as much as those who are first in the Kingdom of God?!...

Blessings

Does it say to the Church of? Really? Or to the ANGEL of the? To some this means nothing... Is GOD stuck in time? Are they out side of time? Things are bring said that.. yeah.. not written. Your hot or your cold. If your lukewarm I will spit you out of my mouth. Now.. NO WHERE did you read "I DID". NO WHERE do we read lost for ever. To those I LOVE is written. I only bring this part up some love to use this to scare people.

So.. it was to the Angel of...so.. it was to them.. it us to us. Lets not be deceived. We ALL can be HOT or COLD.. lukewarm. So..lets repent.. get HOT and move on

Mixing law with grace is disgusting to God, he rather have someone live by the letter of the law (cold)or by grace (hot). The judaisers were always trying to mix law with grace, God hates that.
