Exactly, and what happens in a church or denom where the difference is doctrine? They split to preserve peace and both sides for if they stay together divided they will fall. That is why I wonder why some push so hard to maintain this insanity.

Its like dividing families, separating brothers and sisters away from each other just to maintain peace. Believers are never told to become one; we already are one and are expected to act like it.

As I said in the past, your sarcasm is well-known. ^_^
Sometimes sarcasm is begged for. Sometimes it is needed.
In this case... it is a requirement.

You said she admitted that WoF was divisive, but what she admitted was that many people do see WoF as divisive. She did not say that they were divisive, just that "many" people see it as such.

Which is why I often wonder if people can read.

Again, I can read. I stand by my original comment that she admits that WoF is divisive. Or do you think people are seeing something that's not there?

People simply post what they believe, and you call it "divisive".

Not just me.

Simply posting what you believe, may or may not be divisive it depends what you believe.

peace,
Simon

^_^

She said that many people see WoF as divisive.

She did not admit that WoF is divisive. She admitted that many people think that it is. It's really not that difficult to see the difference.

But let me try to illustrate the difference further. Read the following statement closely, and see if you can determine my feelings about chocolate ice cream from it;

"Many people think chocolate ice cream is disgusting."

Did I just admit that chocolate ice cream is disgusting? Not quite. I just acknowledged that many people think it is. You have no idea what I think about chocolate ice cream from that statement.

Do you see the difference now?

Here is logic for you.

I like peas... you like potatoes.
We disagree... so a division exists.
Since I like peas, peas must be divisive.

This is a perfect example of the kind of logic that questions WoF teaching.

If you have seen the movie "Idiocracy" you must know that we do not have to wait 500 years...
It is here now.

Its not about "like" at all.

Its about doctrinal differences. Doctrinal from man's point of view, interpretations can go many different directions. We can learn from others who believe such doctrines and examine our own.

Dont you think that after five years of this and no0 end in sight that something else is called for. This truly is insanity to keep going like this

nicely done, pete!

Thanks.

Maybe the problem isn't doctrinal differences at all. Maybe some classes in basic reading comprehension would help to solve the problem.

I mean, I know some people think all I've got is sarcasm, but that's not all I got. For example, I can help you with your spelling, grammar, reading comprehension and computer problems as well. I'm a multi-facted individual.

It's like I always tell my wife...

Well I'll just say that I've no idea what to do with the lot of you :p ;)

But actually I still don't really know what would be best here.

I think this is what I want or need now: I'd like everyone to make one final post laying out what *you* would like to see happen, or think should happen. I encourage you all to post. Or, if you'd rather keep your thoughts private, you can PM me and I'll gather your opinions but can leave your name out if any suggestions are taken up with others and all that.

I'll take all those posts and gather them up and go off and see what comes up. I'm not promising any changes one way or the other.

Pete,

The problem is we are not talking about flavours of icecream are we? Icecream is merely personal taste.

We are talking about beliefs being divisive.

So let's pretend an extremist political party get elected to parliment. Many may agree with their policies and many may disagree, but that - like icecream - is irrelevant, because it's the fact that they are seen as extreme that makes them divisive.

Do you see the difference now?
Or do I have to give you lessons in comprehension?

peace,
Simon

Right. So if you and a bunch of other people determine that the belief that fluffy bunnies are cute is an "extreme" belief, then that necessitates that anyone who believes fluffy bunnies are cute is "divisive", just because it is seen that way by some people?

I don't think so. Maybe in the mind of the dyed-in-the-wool non-WoF member, but not in reality.

What this forum needs now, is Love, sweet Love.

Seriously.

You hit the nail on the head in your earlier post. Some people on this forum are just not kind. Those people are damaging this forum, and have been for quite some time. Take a stand, deal with those people, and the problems in this forum would disappear rather quickly.

All this talk of not wanting people to disagree is a bunch of smoke and mirrors, and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the real issue, that some people are either unwilling or unable to disagree agreeably.

I have had disagreements on here at times.
JimB and I seem to frequently kind of disagree but not quite. I think sometimes it is JimB's maturity that we don't argue more because he gives me space to have a different opinion. I like to think it is a joint effort.
Simon Peter and I have definitely disagreed. Again I credit Simon Peter's maturity for the arguements being friendly. I hope i'm doing my part.
Catherineanne and I have disagreed about highly emotional subjects. Again I hope it's a joint effort that keeps it peaceful. She stays calm and keeps the discussion peaceful.

In an ideal world we should all be able to co-exist. If we all make the attempt , we should be able to get along , at least most of the time.

Sometimes we need to offer more grace to allow other posters space to grow into a more balanced viewpoint. That is not always easy to do when we are emotionally involved....

What I would like to see is the extremes get dealt with and let the little things go. Which probably means not much change from how it has been.

I don't like the personal attacks upon Christian leaders or other posters but that is already covered in the rules.

This is a grassroots issue meaning it has to come from the individual consciences of those posting. If everyone makes an effort , I think it can work. It can only be structured so much from the top down.

I would like to see the forum remain as it is, although i do agree that the Non-Wof forum name should be changed, possibly to just Charismatic but that suggestion has caused strife in the past.

and If we are to judge by past performances, my guess is that the Advisors will do one of two things;

1. either do nothing and save themselves a bunch of work, or else

2. shut the whole forum down as being unmanageable.

my choice would be number 3, give each group a stand alone forum.
