True. We know the Apstolic Churvh met on Sunday, and the first congregations also went to the Synagogues on the Sabbath. But there is no indication that Sunday was considered "the Lord's Day". In fact, there is evidence to the contrary (Romans 14:5-12).There is no biblical evidence of Sunday being consecrated as "The Lord's Day", or for any special purpose for that matter.

I am not saying Sunday is the Sabbath as the Sabbath was Saturday (as a Christian I believe Christ Himself is our Sabbath). I'm not saying we should gather on Sunday. I am simply saying why we do.The apostles met everyday, but I have yet to find text that says they met every first day to preach the Word of God like we have on the Sabbath- references below.
More importantly, there is no scripture by thus saith the Lord that tells us that we are no longer to keep the Sabbath commandment and the first day is the new day of worship.
For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
- Acts 13:27
And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
- Acts 13:42
And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
- Acts 13:44
For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
- Acts 15:21
And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
- Acts 16:13
And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
- Acts 17:2
And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
- Acts 18:4
I'm not sure how Christ became a day. The seventh day is the Sabbath according to God Exodus 20:10 and there is no scripture that says Jesus is our Sabbath and we can disregard the 4th commandment.I am not saying Sunday is the Sabbath as the Sabbath was Saturday (as a Christian I believe Christ Himself is our Sabbath). .

Acts 20:7: "Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight."
I Corinthians 16:2: "On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper that there be no collections when I come...
John 20:19: "Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews...
Christ didn't become a day. You are missing the point of the Sabbath. Christ IS that rest. The Sabbath points to Christ, not the other way around.I'm not sure how Christ became a day.
Please point to the scripture that says Christ is the Sabbath rest and we no longer need to keep the Sabbath commandment and now can worship on a day of our choice?Christ didn't become a day. Either way, Scripture is pretty clear that some observe one day over others (whether Saturday or Sunday) and others reguard all days alike. Each needs to follow their convictions.

Hebrews 4 does, however I will not bother quoting it as I am sure you have a different interpretation. Please point to the scripture that says Christ is the Sabbath rest and we no longer need to keep the Sabbath commandment and now can worship on a day of our choice?
This is what Christ in His own words, is how we are to spend the Sabbath, so not sure if I am the one missing the point on God's holy day:
Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Isaiah 58:13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
Leviticus 23:3 Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation.
Isaiah 66:23 And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
How did Jesus and the apostles keep the Sabbath are our example? Jesus was in the temples reading the Word of God, the apostles were preaching and teaching God's Word every Sabbath to Gentiles, Jews and whole cities.
The scripture does not say the Sabbath or Sunday in Romans 14 so you are adding that. In fact, it doesn't even mention the Sabbath in this whole passage. If God was going to "do away" with one of His finger-written commandments the scriptures would be crystal, clear. If you read this passage in context it is not referring to the weekly Sabbath, there is no food in the Sabbath commandment. The apostles were speaking of the feast days and nothing to do with the day God deems above all others, that is a commandment of God, not a suggestion. I am not the one that you need to convince, just sharing the scriptures because sadly many churches are teaching the exact opposite of what Jesus told us to teach Matthew 5:19-30 There is someone out there wanting us to think we do not need to keep the commandments of God, but that does not come from God. Revelation 12:17
Hebrews 4 does, however I will not bother quoting it as I am sure you have a different interpretation.
This is more important:
Romans 14:5–6 One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.
6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God. . . . 10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
Sure there is. You just do not see it. And we have never been under the 10 Commandments (read to whom they were given in Deut. )There is no scripture in Hebrews 4 that says Jesus is the Sabbath rest and we no longer need to keep the 4th commandment. .
If its there, just point it out. It shouldn't be hard.Sure there is. You just do not see it. And we have never been under the 10 Commandments (read to whom they were given in Deut. )
Is Jesus Christ taught on the Sabbath in the synagogues (which are Jewish) today? Is the "Law" taught in Christian churches today?
Which day does God identify as His holy day? I think God can speak for Himself and God did proclaim a day above all others in His own Words. Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 20:10, Isaiah 58:13To be fair, the Lord's Day was never the Sabbath.
The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Which day was Jesus referencing when He said the Sabbath was for man, not man for the Sabbath? Do you think this could have been the Sabbath He was talking about?Which day does God identify as His holy day? I think God can speak for Himself and God did proclaim a day above all others in His own Words. Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 20:10, Isaiah 58:13
The Sabbath is made for man and man was created on the sixth day Genesis 1:26 before the first Sabbath spent in the presence of God. Genesis 2:1-3 Exodus 20:10 What a glorious day that must have been. The Sabbath continues to be the Lords chosen day of worship for eternity Isaiah 66:23. Amen!
The Sabbath is the seventh day Exodus 20:10. It’s the only day God claimed above all others for Him Exodus 20:10, Genesis 2:1-3, Isaiah 58:13 and for man. Exodus 20:8-11. All other days are working days. Exodus 20:9.Which day was Jesus referencing when He said the Sabbath was for man, not man for the Sabbath? Do you think this could have been the Sabbath He was talking about?
Which days does Scripture talk about when it says some men observe over another, other men view all days as the same as being a matter of conscious? Do you disagree with that passage?
I’m not sure how one can keep the “higher purpose” of the Sabbath by breaking the literal commandment. Breaking the literal commandment, means one is not really obeying God’s righteous instructions. The “higher purpose” is greater than the literal, not lesser. There is nothing in the Sabbath that one must keep the Sabbath in ancient Israel so we should probably not add what is not there. We are to "remember" the Sabbath day, and "keep it holy". Convocations and worship were "added" to the Sabbath as many other rules were added to the basic ten commandments. Today we keep the commandments in their higher purpose, not just in their literal meaning. The church can't reconstitute ancient Israel so that the Law can be kept in its literal entirety.

So, what are the rules regarding the Sabbath today?
