It seems your speaking of nuances and perceptions-- what comes to my mind is similar dilemmas of decisions, like when an abused child threatens a parent in self defense -- the premise is that a child should obey, but the parent didn't carry out their role properly.
I know it's a terrible correlation, so please don't pick on me. But it's about the nuances of justice, not the black-and-white law.
God is the one who sets the terms, carries them out, establishes justice, wrote the book, provides grace, and watches over us. We are just going on what He promised, but He is the one who makes the ultimate decisions.
What He offered was grace, to those who have remorse and accept the help. He offered a parent-child relationship, the whole fellowship of believers seen as the bride of Christ, along with active participation in His kingdom.
Those are His terms, whether we intellectually agree with Him or not.
Isaiah 1:18
"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord,
"Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool."
