I do not know of any "Christian standards of decency" that prohibit women from going topless. Proof please.
It's the journey between Genesis 2 and 3.

Breasts are the outward symbol of sex as pertains to the woman's nipples. That which sustains life born from herself. Obvious power to bring forth the future from within that womb that is unseen.

The man you'll notice isn't given the same consideration except in media if he happens to have moobs and is shirtless. Then the censors pixelate the nipples even on him. Because the fatty full pectoral on a man isn't threatening until that nipple makes it look female. Then we must not see.....that power reminder above the waist that makes women powerful not inferior in this patriarchal mind set that thinks that the question of why don't women flash their tata's is a moral issue.

You betcha. But not how some think it to be.

We're 21st century people trying to squeeze our consciousness into the confines of 1st century thinkers.

Yep, there's a reason we still need saving. That's probably why the, OSAS Is a Fraud, posters feel so moved.

I have a sticker on my van that reads; why do people you never want to see naked always join nudist colonies?

I think the one that revived this dinosaur thread ought to set the standard and go bottomless if they're male. And topless if they're female and make a point rather than a post.

Cultural norms are not a valid reason?

Cultural norms for who?
If you constrain the argument to the confines of this website, the admins can do whatever they want.. its their website.

But if you are referring to the cultural norms of America, then no, its not a valid reason at all.

Here's my thinking on this.. When it gets hot, men take off their shirts to aid in cooling their bodies.. Denying women to do the same thing is cruel, sexist, and inhumane. It is basically forcing someone else to endure suffering based on another person's personal and unreasonable sensibilities.

It is actually quite unusual for a man to take off his shirt just for the sake of being topless.. sure it happens. there's several reasons like trying to show off the body, trying to keep a shirt clean, etc etc.. but mostly its to aid in cooling the body and allowing sweat to evaporate quicker.. Sweat + clothing makes most people very uncomfortable..

Not allowing a woman to do the same is wrong on every level.. I'm kind of wondering why this basic thing hasn't been challenged in the high court yet.. its one of the last remaining women's rights issues.. but so long as women don't fight for it, it sends a message that basically says "We agree to be subjugated to having fewer rights than men"..

You are right, posting pornographic content is one of the fastest ways to get banned from this site.

Well like I wrote before, I wouldn't ever post a topless picture anywhere, but thx for confirming that there are double standards here. Cause the pic of the topless teen boy didn't cause any fuss here, but if I did the exact same thing it would get me banned, as you've confirmed. My parents don't let me OR my brother post pics of ourselves topless on the public internet, cause they don't think that's appropriate for either of us. I was surprised by the pic of the topless boy cause it was posted by this girl who is like ultra fundamentalist.

Maybe to you the male topless chest isn't sexual but that's cause you're a straight man. It's every bit as sexual to straight women as boobs are to men. The difference is that the "standards" of Christian decency were largely set by men, lol. It's past time for an update.

Hopefully that rule will change someday. In any event you are off topic. You have yet to provide a single valid reason why women should not be permitted to go topless anyplace that men can go topless. Why?
1 Timothy 2:9

Modest women in Christian communities don't desire to go topless.

A woman who wants to go topless would not be interested in modesty.

Yeah but don't you think that was defining modesty for that time & place & not for all of us everywhere forever? Cause I mean women braid their hair & wear gold & pearls all the time to church, & I bet nobody would get banned if they uploaded pics of themselves in that here. Cause today that's acceptable. The verse doesn't say anything about being topless.

1 Timothy 2:9

9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Nothing there about topless.. Only that women shouldn't deck themselves out artificially. It means they shouldn't wear jewelry or fancy clothing.. (good luck with that!)

And yet, walk into any Christian church and what do you see? Makeup, Gold, Pearls, and lots of other costly diamond studded gold laced arrays.

I believe you are misinterpreting Timothy 2:9.

Christian women are not interested in going topless.

It's a modesty issue.

Adam and Eve covered themselves in the garden of Eden for modesty issues.

It says modest apparel.

Apparel specifically includes clothing according to any dictionary.

Jewelry is considered accessories.

And braided hair is considered adornment.

This scripture includes all aspects of a modest appearance.

Well most women (Christian or not) today in America aren't interested in going topless but many sure did at other times of history. That's just fact. What cultures see as modest or not changes over time & by place. I'm not interested in going topless but I think it's a really unintelligent double standard that women can't in the same places where men can. Like I said b4 it's mainly cause it was men who decided on laws about what is decent & what isn't. A bare male chest can be just as sexual as a woman's boobs to a hetero woman. I asked the person who posted the pic of the topless teen boy here about it. She said she posted it cause she thinks he's hot & she wanted to show off. So that's being modest?

Well Adam covered up, too. How come you don't say Christian men aren't interested in going topless?

Was the picture sexual or inappropriate? You can report it. I haven't seen any reports on top less males.

In your case, it would also be a crime to post those pictures. So that's a double rule vio.

It fully showed the bare chest of a teen boy. I guess to you cause he's a boy instead of a girl it's not sexual or inappropriate. Yeah, to me it was both. This was last Nov. The pic was changed out to something else later in the season.

Well like I said I wouldn't make or post such a picture anyway but I don't think boys should be allowed to do what girls cannot. It's a double standard.

If it's not reported, there's a very good chance we aren't going to see it.

It very well could have been a rule vio. I would have to see it to make a call.

So it's just a theoretical problem.

I know literally zero women who have expressed a desire to go topless in public or who have complained that men can do so without legal consequences.
