I am a Christian, but choose not to attend a "church" - I am made to feel guilty about this by family and friends, who seem to think I can't really be a Christian if I don't attend a church - where in the bible is this grounded?

I live as a Christian, trying my best to live by God's law and feel well able to worship the Lord at home - or wherever I am, for that matter, surrounded by God's wonders ... am I sinning in any way by choosing not to attend a church?

I sometimes miss the fellowship of fellow-Christians, but have had some unfortunate episodes with churches and tend to find them "claustrophobic" and am quite happy worshipping the way I do ..
The devil seems to be using their misunderstandings to hurt you. Yes, stay out of the institutionalized church. Don't feel bad.

Only God knows if you are or not sinning by not attending a specific building at a time when other Christians congregate. I would argue with those who told you that you must attend, and also with those that urge you to stay out of an institution. There are many clear behaviours that are recommended and others condemned in the Scriptures. There's but a single verse pertaining to Church attendance, and it is vague.

Membership and attendance at an institution is therefore a matter of individual conscience, so long as an attitude of anger and renouncement (do not forsake) is not within you.

But if you go, do NOT go from a feeling of guilt.
