Trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Good Shepherd to let you know if & when you can do something good for your enemy, but just know that Paul suffered abuse in the hopes that sinners may come to ask him of the hope he has in Him.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Timothy 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

I cannot see it in me as in my flesh or the religious flesh to suffer like that which is why I am glad Jesus Christ is in me as by His grace & by His help, I place my faith in the Son of God in being my Good Shepherd to help me to follow Him.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Colossians 3:1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
One never knows if an unbeliever may become a future brother or sister of yours, so God may place you in their lives to hear the gospel when they are ready to hear it & He will help you to know when... yes, even to die for them so that they may believe.
