Do you decorate your home for Christmas the day right after Thanksgiving?

No. I have a small house and with the kids here alot and the cat and the dog I usually wait until the weekend before. Less temptation and hassel. I don't have to keep hollering "Hey get out of that!" all season.

I hear ya! :D I like tradition. I like to do things when they're traditionally done. Which means that I try to decorate and send out my Christmas cards on the day following Thanksgiving. I'm weird, I know. My attitude about it, didn't come from my childhood either...shoot, we had a white plastic tree with one of those multi-colored light wheels shining on it. :D (60's...gotta love 'em)

Do you take your Christmas decorations down by New Years Day? (we take the Christmas decorations down New Years Eve, because it's my daughters birthday. And I never wanted her to feel like her birthday was overshadowed by the lingering Christmas stuff. (and by that time...I'm so ready to get my house back to normal too! :D )

Yeah I remember those trees! We had a silver colored one with blue lights. LOL. Then we went to a 4 foot green artificial one. We were never much for store bought decorations in my family, but a Sunday or 2 after thanksgiving my mom would get out the constuction paper and glitter and glue and we would spend all afternoon making decorations for the windows and stuff. My sisters and I had such a great time with that.

I usually take them down on New Years day. Before if it really starts to get on my nerves. The only thing I really leave up any length of time is my blown glass nativity. For me that's what Christmas is really all about.

What's your favorite meal (and is it something you fix yourself or do you go out to eat for it)?

BTW - recipes would be nice;)

edie

My favorite meal is meatloaf, mashed potato's and green peas with onions.

Mealoaf

1 lb ground beef (I use the xtra lean)
1 egg
Breadcrumbs or oatmeal
ketchup
1/4 tsp dry mustard
2 cloves garlic minced (more or less to taste)
1 small onion chopped fine
1 small can tomato sauce
pepper, salt, thyme, oregeno to taste.

Mix above ingrediants and put into loaf pan. Bake at 400 until done. Mix a cup of ketchup and some yellow mustard with a little brown sugar and pour over meatloaf the last 15-20 min of baking.

(I learned to cook from my mom and gram and they never used recipes so the measurments are somewhat rough. You will have to experiment with the spices.)

If you knew today was your last day on earth, what would you do?

Hmmmmm. I would tell all the people that I love that I love them. I would go outside and see the mountains and smell the breeze. I would spend time with my family and friends. I would cuddle with my cat. I would eat my favorite meal. Spend time in prayer.
