Why just the law, egw, or the sabbath?

In another thread AzA made an astute observation that some here have decided to only discuss "the law," egw, or the sabbath? The question is why? I mean of all the things that are important in the christian life, why such a myopic view of things?

Of course if those who cannot get enough of those three topics want to explore them ad nauseum, that's cool, but surely christian life has more to offer than just those three things..... just sayin..... so what's up with that?

If your doctor just told you that you have cancer would that cause you to worry about fixing the bent in your car door from the carriage at the shopping center?

The Christian faith does have so much more to offer but if you're sleeping with my wife or molesting children than eventhing else needs to take a back seat.

But that is not the case k4c... you are not a doctor diagnosing the christian family, and if you are, second opinions are always sought.... likewise, no one is sleeping with your wife, or molesting kids... so while I understand your analogy, it is not applicable.... Now if you want to talk about christians molesting children, or catching your wife in the arms of another, those are topics that we can explore....

The question remains, do you think that your continuous emphasis on the law or the sabbath will change the minds of the people here who interact on this forum? Or do you continue doing so because you feel obligated to?

I only wrote what I wrote for those who are reading this thread and are seeking to know God and want be faithful to His word.

StormyOne, I don't understand why "Progressives have left the house" (as it has been phrased elsewhere.) If they do not enjoy discussing the Sabbath, the Law, or EGW, what is to prevent them from starting threads on other topics that they find interesting? Must it be left to the few who are discussing the present topics to come up with ideas for new threads?

Please know that I'm just as ready to join other types of discussions. But until someone broaches something different, I'm just as happy to discuss what's on the table right now.

I have started a few threads... haven't seen your comments yet... I must have overlooked them?

Stormy,

These three seeds need to fall into the ground and die, then they will spring up with many branches of discussion upon which the fruit of the Spirit will eventually appear.

I contributed to the other thread because I saw that discussions about this sub-forum's identity were happening out of the context of our previous work together and did not account for the kind of group this has been in the past.

As always, it will become what those who participate most regularly make of it, foreground the subjects that consume most of their energy, and take on their tone.

I've spent a lot of time discussing those topics through the years, and that helped me work through many of my questions as I was transitioning out of Adventism. Now I'm tired of thinking about and discussing those things although I still post on them occasionally if I see that someone is struggling with some of the same questions that I've had; perhaps some people would benefit from hearing what I've experienced and what resolutions I've found. There certainly are many things that are more important in the Christian life. Lately I haven't been interested in discussing many topics online, though.

Sophia,

May the following witness strengthen you.

2 Cor 4:13-14
13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. KJV

Your brother in the Lord Jesus,
Joe
