I posted this somewhere else but I realized I would get alot more responses if it was in here. I posted it in somewhere else I found first.

Hello. I am talking to a guy who smokes weed etc. I told him that it was a sin. He shrugged and said um why. I said that God does not like it when people get high and smoke weed. He said how you know. I said the bible. He said the Bible never actually speaks about Marijuana itself. But I explained there was bible verses that said stuff that made you realize it was indeed a sin. He said he tell me a example then. I thought and thought and searched my mind, then I said, "Though shalt not be drunk with whine." he said he doesnt drink whine and thats not marijuanna.

So why is it a sin? What are the reasons and what are the bible verses. He is still awaiting my awnser and still smoking weed etc. I am having trouble trying to explain to him so I need help, and posts in here i can read and then repeat them to him.

smoking weed isn't a sin. over doing it is. Jesus even made wine for the groom to party with his folks at the wedding. its just like everything else in life. i bet u alot of people over eat in here. thats a sin too and could actually harm u alot more then smoking weed. but remember this conversation is about weed and not hard core drugs. weed isn't crack so please don't get out of line with my answer. im sure everyone on here will disagree with me but thats how i see it and am ok with it.

actually the government made it aginst the law, so even having it is aginst the law. the bible says we should follow the law unless it goes aginst Gods law. so there fore it is a sin...
Yep, most definitely.

Imagine a Pastor having a stash of pot & smoking before his :preach:sermons!

have you looked into the bible's teaching on drug use?

Pharmakia is clearly noted as SIN - and it's directly linked to the occult as far as God is concerned.

I also don't know any good it provides (outside possible medicinal purposes for people in extreme pain) other than appeasing the flesh and opening up the mind.
We're told by God to take control of our minds, using pot does just the opposite - we put it in park and let the drugs take us for the ride.

With alcohol, there is a stopping point before you get drunk. With drugs, there is no stopping point, you get the affects in your mind - and the more you take of them, the more it takes to produce those effects - and you're QUICKLY addicted to them; by nature, they're very addictive and you need more.

Sorry, it is flat out SIN and worse, it's of Satan.

Well, what if there was two pastors. 1st Pastor Smoked weed for 20 years, starting when he was 13. But he has given up weed, no longer smokes it, and is a pastor. But the 2nd Pastor, only being in his early 20s, gives in to his impulsive behavior and starts smoking it for the first time. Then is pulled over and caught with a bag and gets a summons ticket for possesion. And probably gets fired. Why does the first Pastor deserve respect, or more respect then the 2nd pastor. What the 1st pastor did was so much worse since he was smoking it for 20 years and the 2nd one just started. And they were both christians yet made mistakes.

Well the word that comes to mind is REPENTANCE. And the fact that they are Pastors, not judges, police, doctors, lawers, but pastors representing God, not humanity. God does'nt change, the 1st came to god the 2nd is moving away.
If the second pastor was on a hardcore evangelical mission to get in with people who were into drugs, then fair one. But if he has lost his way, and fallen foul of the law then he is obviously not representing.
The first Pastor though, did these things, learnt that they aint no good, found Jesus and went to work for him, he will be passing on the message that weed takes you away from God not closer.
At the end of the day 'all have sinned' which is why God gave us Jesus in the first place. I wouldnt think any the less of either of them, i just wouldnt want the second one teaching me.

Even though smoking marijuana is a sin, let us not accuse our neighbors as the devil does, let us not pass judgment upon another, let one person live their life the way they desire. I think if you are debating whether to light your next joint, bowl, or hit a waterpipe, just remember what the bible says about intoxication, that is all I have to say about weed.

Also, for those who still enjoy smoking marijuana, try getting high on the Holy Spirit, it creates a high that no drug or any other high can compare to. I've been stoned plenty of times, drunk a few times, and I can tell you NOTHING comes close to what the Holy Spirit can do for you. Just have faith, believe, and you will see what I'm talking about.

Exactly, marijuana may create a high, but that high will wear off and it will not exist after everything passes away.

God's high off the Holy Spirit fills you with a high that will stay with you when this world passes away. The buildings will crumble, the earth will burn, your body will pass away, but your passion will rise from the ashes, and that will forever live with God into eternity. Only the Holy Spirit can give you this undying passion.

There's a saying, "In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." "Love thy God with all thy heart, thy soul, and all thy mind."

ditto - only I always HATED pot. For a girl watching her figure, those munchies will not work for long.
I preferred other drugs instead. But I drank tons.

In the end, it doesn't bring happiness, it brings guilt and remorse and you end up needing it to function & have a good time.

I am perfectly fine with leaving the legal aspect out of it; as I stated earlier, not everything that is legal is in line with God's law. That is why I have purposely skirted the law on this topic.

Arguing the rationale and tying it in to conspiracy theories norders on the inane. I have honestly never looked to bookmark my faith on the supposed transperacy of the government.

Again, if you believe that you can serve God while high, and be a good example of His faithfulness, I simply have to humbly disagree.

With all do respect, I think we need not worry about Zoroaster. It's about you and me.
