Why is weed a sin

Genesis 1:11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.

God made marijuana. God made the plant that cocaine is extracted from. But it's not His fault that mankind has taken what The Lord made and used it for evil and selfish ways. It's just like a singer or musician taking the talent God gave them and instead of singing the praises of Him, singing songs about sex, drugs, and money!(sound familiar?)

God also made poison ivy & nightshade and tobacco.

NOTHING about tobacco is healthy actually. It's extremely addictive and cancer causing.
So smoke pot to your heart's content, but it's forbidden as recreational brain numbing for personal highs - the same is true of alcohol ( aka spirits).
They could drink some alcohol, but when it produces a high it's wrong becuz it affects your inhibitions just like drugs do.
It's a well known fact that people are much less convicted about sin while they're under the influence of drugs and most use them to be able to live in their sins.

This is well known in the sex industry - and I had to use substances to commit and live in my sin too.

It's all intoxication, and all drugs/alcohol serve the same basic purpose; to become intoxicated.

He's using technical terms to justify what he's doing. I don't condemn him, but the man doesn't realize that it is unhealthy to put his mind under the influence of any substance.

Hello. I am talking to a guy who smokes weed etc. I told him that it was a sin. He shrugged and said um why. I said that God does not like it when people get high and smoke weed. He said how you know. I said the bible. He said the Bible never actually speaks about Marijuana itself. But I explained there was bible verses that said stuff that made you realize it was indeed a sin. He said he tell me a example then. I thought and thought and searched my mind, then I said, "Though shalt not be drunk with whine." he said he doesnt drink whine and thats not marijuanna.

So why is it a sin? What are the reasons and what are the bible verses. He is still awaiting my awnser and still smoking weed etc. I am having trouble trying to explain to him so I need help, and posts in here i can read and then repeat them to him.

Ok the bible says be holy for I am holy so if he wonts to be holy he cannot smoke weed. also the bible say that our body is the temple of the holy spirit so why would he alllow us to smoke weed and destroy our temple.

I really don't think legalizing marijuana would be that bad of an idea. Sure it's mind altering, but so is alcohol. Then again, alcohol is a sin - so maybe all mind altering drugs are?

Why in the world do we need more mind-altering drugs available to us? Isn't society bad enough as it is? Why would legalizing pot be a boon to society? It appeals only to the low...those who would defile themselves on a whim.

Legalising cannabis could have some benefits though. It would be available to patients who need it for medicine (which it should be in any case). It can be argued that if cannabis was legal, people would be less prone to use other drugs (as it is now, if you want to buy cannabis, you have to see people who are likely to push other drugs as well). And we must ask if it's right to call someone peacfully getting high on cannabis, as opposed to getting violently drunk, a criminal.

I don't know. I'm personally glad I stopped doing drugs a long time ago. But I definitely see the double standard in alcohol being legal while cannabis is illegal.

What I gather from that is that you can do certain things (or refrain from doing certain things) and that will make you holy.

God must have a pretty low standard if people can actually make themselves holy by doing/not doing certain things...
