Why is sex and anything sex-related guarded to sacredly?

I'm guessing I'm not asking this correctly or something...

I don't know if anyone else can explain or ask this better than I can since I keep getting replies that are irrelevant to my point.

I thought that I addressed the question/point with this: we don't cover it because we prohibit it / consider it sacred / etc., we prohibit it / consider it sacred / etc. because we cover it.
