Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is God mysterious?

I'm asking for live video, something that was allegedly available back in 1969. Anything else can easily be dismissed as potentially a product of fisheye lenses, photoshop, lightwave 3d, etc.

I wasn't alive back then to know if they captured themselves live returning to Earth. Maybe it wasn't possible because of how fast they were going? Maybe they didn't have autopilot, so they had to focus on flying rather than filming? Technology wasn't that good as it is compared today. Can you give me a live video of someone showing the arctic wall and it going all around the earth? At least a picture of it from different "corners" of the earth? It's 2014, so finding yours will be easier than mine if it's true...

Yes, they allegedly had live video of the moon landing in 1969. And nope, I don't have a live video of the ice wall, which is why it is simply my personal belief :)

A live video is harder to fake IMO

I'm the type who I have to personally see, hear, feel, experience something to believe it is real or at least have overwhelming evidence. I believe the Earth is round because I've seen it and have experienced it. Same as God because I've heard, felt, and experienced Him and His love and seen His creations/wonders. So, when you say you've never seen the "wall" , when their is no evidence of it(which shouldn't be hard if it is tangibly on this Earth), I have to assume it is blind faith and a christian who's fallen into the absurd doctrines someone put out.

I dont agree with your views, but it's your life and your view, so do you lol.

Still irrelevant. It can still be faked, and what's to stop them from making a pre-recorded video, altering the heck out of it, then just claiming it is a live video?

I had a lot of fun with that once. I recorded about five minutes of video from up in the corner of the toilet (while no one was using it, of course). Then, a few days later, I had a party, lots of guests. One of the guests excused themselves to go to the loo, and while they were gone, I played this video of the empty toilet on the TV. When the guest came out, they saw us all watching and laughing and thought for a moment that we'd been spying on them having a piddle.

They thought it was a live video, so just seeing a video and being told it is live means nothing.

What means A LOT is having testable evidence.

With a live video feed, weather patterns can potentially be viewed real-time ... thousands of eyes on it might be able to spot a weather pattern that was not representative of local weather, for example. Or, flights, in the same way. Etc.

No, it may not be definitive, but as I stated, it would go a long way to establishing truth.

Why do we have earthquakes?

A flat earth could be solid and . . . flat, with no central lava.

But a round earth can have a center of lava, with a crust all around it. As the earth cools the central lava contracts, pulling in on the crust so the crust is crumbling against itself, adjusting; and with this there are pops and shifts with quaking.

Yes. When I played that trick on my friend, she realised it was a joke by observing the weather patterns on the video of the room.

Do you honestly think this is a legitimate defence of your idea?

Based on the terms you're using, it appears to me you're mixing philosophy and theology. IOW, you may be creating a strawman where theology has to be a certain thing, and then shooting it down because it can't be that thing.

In as far as I am 'mixing' philosophy and theology, I'm asking you to provide an epistemological foundation for theological assertions.

That is as rudimentary and foundational a request as it is possible to make of an area of discourse - how does it work? How is 'theological' information gleaned?

I didn't invent theology. It's something that's been workable for thousands of years.

Astrology has been around much, much longer. Longevity is not indicative of truth, nor even coherency.

God exists.

No, that is the naked assertion of theology, and indeed, its only reason for existing.

Why didn't you ask the same question about proposition #2? You can't say the analogy fails simply because you disagree with my theology.

Your analogy fails because science has an epistemology and a history of results, while theology does not.

*warning, sarcastic joke*

God is mysterious for the lols, clearly. That tool is watching us all arguing over these philosophical issues it could easily clarify for us and laughing itself to tears. We are being trolled on a cosmic level spanning billions of years. You have to admire the dedication.

Fans of the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book series may recall God's Final Message to His Creation:

"We apologize for the inconvenience." God's Final Message to His Creation, written in letters of fire on the side of the Quentulus Quazgar Mountains.
