  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not likely.
Remember eating just one bite of an apple (not too glutonous) was enough to die for!

And gluttony has always been a sin, for it starts with a polluted heart, then pollutes the body which is sometimes referred to as destroying the temple of Yahweh(God).

Also, in the desert, there was not really a limit to the food supply at all (Yahweh, as usual, PROVIDED EXTRAVAGANTLY GENEROUSLY ! (and freely) ) - no one lacked food, and no one had too much, when they were walking in obedience.

I wonder if this comes from when they were in the desert and such, where eating too much when there is limited food could create problems.

Why is gluttony a sin?

Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? -- Romans 6

Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. -- Philippians 3

Gluttons have made their bellies their god, which is idolatry--placing yourself in obedience to a lord other than Jesus.

The Bible never mentioned that the fruit, in which Adam and Eve ate,was an apple.

And some have wasted a portion of their lives debating just what the fruit was.

Because food is your God and you will do anything for it, anything, even break Gods commandments.

When you place anything over God and his commandments its a sin.

Or their palates. C.S. Lewis said that contrary to the modern image that gluttony was over concern with things of the flesh, particularly food. Chasing after new tasted to excess fits, even if one never overeats. For that matter the disciplined man of that sort may never eat to the point of being full, always keeping capacity in reserve for some new taste.

The point, that I was making, was that many people think that certain sayings are biblical And these sayings are not true. Paul wrote to Timothy to "rightly divide the Word of Truth". Just as some people think that the saying, "God helps those who help themselves" is a biblical saying. And,it is not a biblical saying.
