Why is declawing your pets enough to get them taken away.

You could ask her, but she hasn't quite mastered English yet. She certainly doesn't act like she notices.
I did put my cat through 3 English lessons but didn't really seem to do anything. Just meows.

Why would you remove a cat's defense system?
If you don't mistreat it then it won't use those claws on you.
And if furniture matters more to you than a living cat - perhaps you should rethink having a cat? And I fail to see why you have a "right" do do what you please to any living creature - that means you could, if you so wished, douse it with gas and set it alight. (All that's different here is the degree of abuse.)

God gave cat's claws for a reason and as you know He works in His own mysterious ways - perhaps you should respect that?
Well claws were made on cats to defend themselves. But if they live indoors then they don't need them as there is nothing that will hurt them. Hence they are safe and you can remove the claws. By chance do you own any pets?

Yes... you presume because a cat doesn't say otherwise - she agrees with you.
Rather ... narcissistic don't you think?
Perhaps you thinking to know better than me what's best for my cat in our circumstances is also narcissistic?

You do as you will with your animals, I'll do what's best for me and mine.

Exactly. My cat was a feral I adopted straight from the wild. Had I not done that, she would have long ago been roadkill or coyote food. I think the loss of front claws is an acceptable price to pay for 15+ years (God willing) of a carefree life as a housecat where they are not needed anyway.

Yet somehow I'm cruel and narcissistic.
