Thank you for sharing the link to the insightful article. It echoes what other polls have found about how many devoutly religious people see congruity between science and their faith. In my own personal experience it's been true that more nonreligious have falsely presumed there to be a conflict between the two, whereas those who are religious see compatibility. I think the article is correct about one of the primary reasons for this:

This thread topic reminds me of Pope Francis' address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences this time last year, in which he stated:

His statements were not revolutionary but rather were in accordance to what the Catholic Church has been stating for years about the lack of contradiction between science and faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

This is harmonious to what Protestant denominations such as the Episcopalian and Methodist churches have stated.
And of course there's the Clergy Letter Project from clergy who support the teaching of evolution.

I don't know how to quote, a quote, that is within a post. I think, the quote about how the media highlights outspoken conservative fundamentalists, it is true, most definitely. It is why many nonreligious people, think Christians, are more conservative, than most of us are. Ken Ham, he has made the news here, for having a tantrum about some dinosaur movie. When that movie, about Charles Darwin comes out, I'm sure, he will have a strop, lol. It's a pity, that people look at this buffoon, and think, we think like him. I receive comments, all the time, about American Christians. Of course, most Christians, I made friends with, whilst there, were not fundamentalists.

Do you believe that God guides in this world?
Do you believe that God guides in the process of development or process of evolution?
I'm not entirely sure. I lean to the side that God guides -- I have a hard time seeing natural selection (plus genetic drift and all that) as the explanation for life as we see it today. But I might be wrong. I'm always collecting more information.

I would actually look for, certain Christian fundies, to boycott Disney when that movie comes out.

Of course it denies God when it promotes the view that only naturalistic mechanisms produced all life we observe today. No God needed, wanted or allowed. It's atheistic Darwinist evolution in a nutshell.
You know, I can only try reasoning with you for so long before I realize all I'm getting in return is a bloody forehead and a big headache.

The real problem with fundies is this; they are ticked off, the theory of evolution does not mention God.
Don't tell them but... neither does the book of Esther.

You can have mutations and claim it's random. Natural selection doesn't not create new life forms, it only populates existing life forms created by random, mindless, meaningless, purposeless and goalless mutations.
Natural selection is the major player in what gets to become the next generation of life forms. So yes, evolution is not random.

I read that something like only 40% of America accepts Evolution. It's more than just the fundies that are ignorant. I think a lot of it is just lack of education, and I'm thinking this movie might actually make some headway.

Be a physicist and express a notion of creationism. See if you aren't jobless in a year.
There is a very nasty, biased side in the fields of science that atheists refuse to recognize, for obvious reasons. It doesn't do their claim "we are right and you are wrong because ~science~" any justice.
Also try to be a student and be a Creationist. If you don't enjoy the opposition *high fives LA, Crowns & Truthseeker* , it's best to keep your mouth shut.

Correct. It's just a lack of understanding. It was only covered briefly when I was in highschool. I didn't know much about it until I did independent research. When is the movie supposed to release? I've honestly just heard of it from this site.

An atheist? How odd. You self identify as non-denominational.
Oh - thanks for pointing that out. This is a really old account and I only came back because I saw new emails coming from this board which are more interesting. I couldn't find where to change this, it's not on the "Personal Details" page?
