Why is Christian TV so low-quality

I think it has as much to do with the topic as the presentation. Overtly religious shows and movies tend to be rather bland in concept. The rare exception being movies like The 10 Commandments and Passion of the Christ. It's not just the acting or production values, it's the topic. They're interesting, even if you're not a Christian. You have conflict, intrigue, violence, death, and lots of crazy things happening. These are the defining moments of Christianity and they're rife with things that today are considered "unChristian". It's those very things that made them so entertaining, and why modern Christian entertainment isn't.

My current favorites are shows like Dexter, Weeds, the Tudors, Meadowlands, Flight of the Conchords, Dr. Who, Heroes, The Office etc... The topics and subjects are all over the place but they're all good because those topics are interesting. If you tell them well then you have gold.

one issue is the model of stations airing Christian shows, the majority of which make the show producers either pay for air time or run telethons to help pay for it. The shows, actors, etc do not make the money that secular stuff does either but end up doing it more for the love of it.
Public television has a similar model but gets corporate funding and also funding from the goverment too, and can and does produce religious type shows, mostly documentaries though. Add the lack of paying commercial advertising to push the money into oblivion at times like a superbowl halftime commercial and people make a ton of money off TV shows that are mainly non-christian or watered down religiously correct etc shows with no mention of the gospel... period.

For the love of what? The art? What art?

No, I think that they do it to help "save lost souls" and for no other reason.

Hey, has anyone watched those Christian movies called "Believers Among Us"?
I was wondering what y'all think of the series? Is it bland to ya?

Again, what about this series "Believers Among Us"? Does anyone know it and if so, what do you think about the show? I wanted some opinions.
