• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why I was bummed out.

It would be HIS choice and not influenced or pressured by others to do what they are doing. ;)

Ooooh, that sound Calvinistic. Music to my ears.

I like to help people. I like it. In this forum, I started a prayer thread, which I go to everyday, to pray and encourage. It is one of the ministries God called me to.

But...I need the freedom to do what I do best out of love, not because it is demanded of me.

Thank you. I love the prayer thread.

I also pray every day, and every week I go out with my pastor's wife and one other to pray for shut ins and people who are sick or discouraged. The Lord has been there every time, it has been so awesome.

But I do it out of LOVE. Not because I have to, or someone demands that I do it. I do it freely, out of love, because I love the Lord, and because I love His people.

Similarly, I need the freedom to rep whom I choose, and not be tied down by someone else's expectations. I am sorry if this hurts someone here, but I think this issue needs to come out.

I do not feel any obligation to rep unless I agreed to rep. And I seek to keep really low expectations that folks rep me.

Now I beg with the best of them and use whatever leverage I can, but that is my personna, not my expectation.

If I get NO reps for this post I will be just fine.... really I will. ... I think I will... I probably will...

but rep me just in case!

Well, here is one of my problems, RD. People who are ANGRY at me because they repped me and I didn't rep them back right away. I didn't ask them to rep me, either, but apparently they don't consider that.

My advice would be to tell them privately that you don't feel obligated to rep back unless agreed and they can take that into account when they rep you, Then I would rep them for that one post and continue on my way.

I guess that would be one way of handling it. Right now I keep lists...and try to get to everyone eventually. But I am feeling overwhelmed.

I consider reps just like gifts. If I give you a gift it was mine to give. You don't have to repay a gift nor do you even have to acknowledge it. If you give me the gift of a rep, I appreciate it. Someday I hope to repay a gift for a gift but I don't feel obligated to do so.

If I do that in the forum I came out of--or even seem to do that because I am late repping--I am despised.

Keeping a list would overwhelm me too.

Just for practice I'll rep you and do not return it. Just for FUN!

Well, now you know why someone who has posted on this thread is angry with me.

Why not just let it fade into the past. If the person wants to interact with you privately they will. If not.... no probs.

The way I feel is they are my reps to do with however I please. If someone reps me I decide if I want to rep them back or not. I wont be pressured or guilt tripped into it either. I just plug along and do my own thing.

I've been keeping a list of who I rep and the time for well over a month now. It helps me see where my reps are going and how I'm spending them. :sorry:

I also go into threads and just randomly reps someone and leave back out of the thread without saying anything. I've spent a lot of my reps on one member getting them to their first star.

People shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.
