Doesn't matter what Rev David Engelsma says.
Who do you think studied the Bible more? You or the Pharisees in Jesus' day.I wonder who has studied the Bible more? You or the Rev?
John Macarthur says one thing, the Word of God says different.J. Macarthur | Did Jesus Die For Everyone or some?
John M. = just a man
I think God knows the Bible better than John M. does and He said quite a few times that He died for everybody. But, not your average Bible scholar.
He has preached the word for over 60 years.
Written his own commentary Bible.
Has his own Seminary college.
Studied every verse of the Bible in depth in Greek and Hebrew.
Never takes a verse out of context.
Has trained many, many a good pastor.

I wonder who has studied the Bible more? You or the Rev?
So today the word "world" only means a subgroup of the human race?? Only to the reformed. And without any evidence from the Bible. When the word world was used in the Bible it did not have the same meaning as today.

Who do you think studied the Bible more? You or the Pharisees in Jesus' day.
What about the Pharisees versus the Apostle Peter. Peter was unlearned and ignorant, Pharisees were well educated.
Following your logic, you should accept what those Pharisees said and not Peter.
Mr flip-flop. JM used to believe in unlimited atonement. He repented of that view.Does the word world mean everyone -- think not.

Why don’t you prove that?
I wonder who has studied the Bible more? You or the Rev?

Just as I thought. Just words you put in a post when you have nothing to say.I will leave that up to you.

No doubt God calls us to repentance! Those scriptures don’t prove your point that man has the ability to come to Christ. Jesus said, no man can come to me unless the Father draws him... But the inability of natural man, who is dead in sin, will not and cannot come to rest in Christ and see his own sin and guilt. Natural man is held in bondage by his own sinful nature. Romans 8:7 states, Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.. 1 Corinthians 2:14 states, But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.. So the act of believing is an act of grace by a changed heart of regeneration, by the hearing of the gospelI have done some research and found out why you think Jesus did not die for everyone.
Attempting to use John 11:51-52 (an entirely different book) as the basis to make the "World" refer to Gentiles.
But, in the same book, John writes 1 John 5:19,
We are of God and the whole world lies in wickedness.
So he is saying that unregenerate people are the world.
Monergism vs synergism
Monergism says that it is all God and none of man.
Synergism says that man must cooperate with God to be regenerated.
Throughout the Bible we see God giving man a choice, obey and be blessed, disobey and be cursed.
In Psalm 32:8-10 God says
32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
32:9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
32:10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
Here He is telling us we need to make the right choice.
Then In Isaiah 1:18 He says, Come let us reason together, though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as wool,
though they be red like crimson they shall be white as snow.
Our part is to say yes or no, once we say yes God takes over and does His part.
All glory goes to God, we get no glory whatsoever.
He did all the work, all we did is give the go ahead.
I will glory in the cross, not my agreeing to God.
He gives the ability to say yes or no. Otherwise why would He want to reason with us. Jesus said He came to seek the lost, not the elect.Who gives us the ability to say yes to God when the Bible says None seek God?
The Holy Spirit convicts of sin of unbelief. But the inability of natural man, who is dead in sin, will not and cannot come to rest in Christ and see his own sin and guilt.
Sprout doesn't understand election either. It's not for salvation, but for service.
