I've got to agree with the original poster that PETA-esque vegetarians are often blasphemers. Practically every vegetarian I know is an atheist (which itself is the worst blasphemy you can commit). I've never understood how they can claim to support life, and reject the Author of life at the same time. I also read my campus vegan club's book on why the Bible supports vegetarianism. Of course it ignores such things as Jesus eating a fish, and Paul's clear statement in Romans 14 that vegetarianism and meat-eating are both acceptable, provided that one follows his own conscience. I think the Bible is clear that "food does not bring us closer to God." It's wrong for vegetarians to misuse our Holy Scriptures.

Oh by the way, I am a vegetarian. I've never eaten any meat in my entire life, so it's not as if I'm against the idea of vegetarianism.

Face the facts, brothers and sisters.

Before sin (see Gen 1:29), God intended mankind to be vegetarian. After God destroys sin, all "who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead" (Luke 20:35) will eventually be vegetarian.

God will not allow man to kill animals, nor will there be death in the "new heaven and a new earth," the eternal home of righteousness. (2 Pet 3:13).

"There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" (Rev 21:4).

Studies have shown that vegetarians (following a well-balanced low-fat high-fibre vegetarian diet) often have lower incidence of coronary artery disease, hypertension, obesity and some forms of cancer. God would be pleased for Christians to have lower incidence of coronary artery disease, hypertension, obesity and some forms of cancer, would He not?

Unless you want to (1) stick your head in the sand or (2) be a modern-day Esau (he sold out his birthright because of uncontrolled appetite) and miss out on God's physical/mental/spiritual blessings of good health, do a web search "health benefits of vegetarians" and do some reading.

It seems to me that God didn't originally intend us to eat meat, and when people did start eating meat, he set up diet restrictions in Levitical law to protect health, i.e. no pork. Even modern medical science says that pork is horrible for your health. I'm an ovolacto-vegetarian myself, although I have the occasional salmon filet... hey Jesus ate fish!

Actaully, I agree with both Twistedsketch and Gypsybella. Vegetarians and meat-eaters shouldn't judge each other (Paul even says so in Romans 14). But I also don't think there's anything wrong with vegetarianism. This is one of the few cases where the Bible really does say "to each his own." So why argue with that?

The way I see it is....

God meant for us to be veggie but when the flood came he knew noah and his family would need to eat(and with the entire earth covered in water it was going to take quite some time for it to dry up enough to start planting seeds again) so he adjusted to what they needed to survive and put down guidelines for it.

I do eat meat myself, I don't look down on those that do or don't eat meat. I do try to eat more fruits and veggies then meat for the health benefits and thats about it.

So to the vegetarians out there....GOOD FOR YOU!

and to the meat-eaters.......GOOD FOR YOU!
