  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It seems like theology is best at talking about why God does what He does. Why He made Adam and Eve. Why man is the way man is today. Why did God not just destroy man and start all over again.

Science, at least modern science seems to be obsessed with HOW God does what He does. How did He create the world. How did He hang the stars in the sky. How is God going to restore man to his origional splender.

The problems seem to begin, when theology trys to answer how God does what He does or did what He did. Just like science gets into trouble when they start to ask why.

Daniel 1:4
Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

I agree with you, JohnR7. One problem with theology I do see is that there is no concensus or ability to reach a concensus on any theological issue.

Like why didn't God send Jesus and sacrifice him after Adam sinned? There is no way you will get all or even a majority of Christians to agree with just 1 answer to this question. So the Pope would issue one decree. Baptist council would issue another. Mormons would come up with another. And each denomination would all claim they made their decision based on the Holy Ghost.
