CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Marriage is a fundamental right per Loving v. Virginia. Any laws affecting that right must past a strict scrutiny test in order to be constitutionally upheld.
Assuming you think it's bad to be racist, would it be ok for the government to pass a law prohibiting racists from marrying lest they have kids and indoctrinate them with racist values?

Yes, exactly! I certainly chose to be bullied out of two high schools. I chose to lose some of my closest friends after coming out. I chose to be ridiculed, beaten up, and generally ostracized. I chose to become a second-class citizen hated by a substantial portion of the world. Of course! It was the only logical choice, wasn't it? Who wouldn't want to always be under the nagging threat of death from fundamentalists and rednecks? I'll be discriminated against for my entire life, and I'll only get married if I learn Dutch and move to Holland.
Homosexuality is not a choice. Most of the time it is a very painful realization, and suppressing it makes you feel even worse.

Does anyone else get tired of mentioning the fact that the Bible is only accurate in the minds of Christians? That only in archaic religious texts does it speak of the sin of homosexual behavior..Wait..the whole sin thing...Yeah thats right..It's Christian too.
When you can honestly tell me why homosexuality is wrong without quoting one biblical reference then I will actually consider reading the post. I got 5 sentences into this post and realized it's more bibble vomit.
By the way...King James was Bi sexual.
Homosexuality is not wrong. Lets reverse the roles for a minute. Let's say that you don't like men. I presume how it is now. Lets say the only way for people to reproduce was for two men to fornicate. And then lets add a few sprinkles of backwater religious zealots telling you that you wanting to have sex with a woman is vile and disgusting and that your going to be tortured all eternity unless you repent from your evil ways and embrace your fellow man. (Literally)
Wild scenario I know...I hope you can wrap your head around it and see how uncomfortable you would feel in that situation. Please consider that before spewing intolerance from a bunch of homophobic bronze age sheep herders that probably had no problem having relations with sheep at one time or another during those snowy Decembers in Bethlehem.

Which is one of the big indicators that Christ wasn't born in December... because shepherds aren't out in the snow at that time of year

The carol tell of King Wenceslas looking out on the feast of Stephen December 26. not his own feast day.
The mythic events were more part of church propaganda to evangelize the people of Bohemia than truth. Much like how the church downgraded the Irish fire/hearth Goddess Bridgett into a saint to attract her worshipers
