you are off topic ....you attack the west and Christianity to that extent... You have no right to judge who is saved and who is not as that is not any of your business. But that is okay so the world will see the venom that comes out of the followers of your religion. I forgive you as you are mislead by your religion that is full of contradiction and teaches that it is woman's fault that men sin and fall....Instead of letting men be responsible for their actions they restrict women's dress code and here behaviour to "protect" man's uncotrollable insticts... Period.

Our "law" is not "humanish" as you call it but Christ's as He gave us unwritten laws of how to interact and behave with each other. For he said woman and men are the same in the eyes of God... Christ did not tell women to be "more modest" than men and that men can go and look upon any woman ....since if they do they commit sin... So there the blame is on the men who look not the women.... That is what the God-man Christ taught us and taught you since He is a prophet in YOUR faith BUT instead you are quick to 'reject' his teachings while you say you respect His Mother.... as a Mother of the prophet......hmmmmm.... You respect Her to "show" that you do because in reality you do not ....you prove you do not with your actions... How is the treatment of men and women the same as Christ taught if you respect His Mother??? YOU want to appear you do for your own motives so that others would think you accept Christ and in reality you do not...We are in the new covenant of Christ and Christ told us to live by the "spirit" of the Law as the law does not save but Christ does.

You even do not have a right to judge even prostitutes as they can also repent......Christ forgave the adulteress woman and told her to go and sin no more.... But yeah the venom is from your religion who "kills" women who are prostitutes and adulteress not giving them a chance to repent.... unlike our God your god is mercyless and cruel pure a humanistic god who brings distruction to those who legalistically do not obey them... but those who do sin in secret your god does not mind as it is okay for the mulsims to lie as part of the haddiths and your prophet tells them to do it.....
So the god of lies and deception is better than the God of love, mercy and forgiveness? I do not think so... Also the Lord Jesus says "Judgment is mine" you cannot as much as you try distinguish who will be going to hell or heaven eventually as we do not know how He will judge us. We are indeed to live a moral life in Christ. but still that prostitute can be a child of God tomorrow and you can be left out despite the hijab or any other "practice" or "law' you are under since you are judging others.... For Christ said to the Jews that they are hypoctites who ONLY follow the written Law without practicing mercy and love to their neighbour... Those going to hell is out of choice as they do not chose to be with God.... denying His mercy and they do not repent and turn to Him.... We do not rejoice on that though....instead we pray that all are saved... while you condemn the prostitute... instead of felling bad for her... and her condition. Also attribute to her the "fall" and "passions" of men saying she is responsible for their fall... No, each man has free will to judge what to do either sin or not... His choice to join her and sin....cutting himself off God's mercy...
I can see now your intentions all along to accuse Christianity about its dogma and practice.....

There is nothing more to say as you still cannot support the practice of the hijab in your religion.
Amen

I may present this verse for everyone to read, so they may understand why Hijab is important as long as to the world there is no significant definition to what chastity means and what decent means.
Surah :Al-A'raf= The Heights
27.O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.
This may answer many questions that people are avoiding.
If we want to talk about kinds of chastity women believe in, we may have the following:
1. wearing decent clothes only.
2. wearing whatever you want as long as your heart is decent.
3. wearing decent clothes and Hijab.
4. wearing tight clothes and Hijab.
5. wearing Hijab while praying only.
In all of the above , you can see that women's only concern is themselves.
And I am not talking about Christians or Jews, Muslim women also are involved in this matter.
Women in general thinks that worshipping the Almighty won't go further than the praying carpet ,Mosque, Church or Synagogue. They think that as long as you have faith in your heart , then there is no problem with clothing.
Ladies, please think deeply about the world around you so you can learn about Unity and Constancy:
Did you see any changes in the path planets move in? Maybe slight changes but not huge ones to be noticed.
Let's say the Sun rising from the west or the moon stayed full the whole month.
Everything around you stayed as it is.
But only the Earth keeps on changing in weather, in its living creatures, in floods, hurricans, dry/rainy areas, forests, dark, light,...etc. This is the land of changes and these changes came from what is constant and doesn't change.
Adam was made of clay or sand which Earth is represented by its both parts water and land but his children are the most stubborn ones , even harder than rocks which can be broken into small parts by rain. Isn't that sad to know that the devil's plan worked out well with humans and the reason why it worked out, it is because they didn't use their brains and whenever they do, they will think about something good for them, fame , money, children, pleasures...etc.
And that's the way how devil is thinking and his way of thinking is based on pride and vain because he didn't obey the Creator to bo down to Adam.
And back to the Sun as the sign of day and the moon as the sign of night that didn't change because
the Creatore holds the Heavens and Earth in His Hands.
How many years we lived on Earth? millions or billions and every day we have a new discovery that tells alot about mysterious life that is surrounding us and many theories failed after years of being a trustworthy theory.
But how easily we change our minds about a human theory because we all raised in a way that what you don't see and what you don't hear is nothing and untrusted. But when you see pictures or even made up movies some may accept ideas that many thought it is crazy to believe in them. We are able to forgive humans for tricking others long time ago but not able to believe what's the Almighty sent us all long time ago. We are happy leading the life of the devilish plan but ungrateful to the Almighty when an Earthquake happens. Think twice and thrice why this particular Earthquake happened?
Back again to the Sun and Moon, Day and Night, High skies and low core of the Earth.
But you know what? It is ridiculus to think that high skies to you is high skies to others and low core of Earth to you is high core of Earth to others.
Because we all live in a round Earth. What's a high skie to people in the North Pole is a Low Skie to people in the South Pole. But Skie is Skie and the Earth core stayes the same. The idea is that the world stayed the same as a proof created by the Almighty that He is one, His Love , His Mercy, His message is one, is the same through different messangers like thunders, volcanos, floods, change people's history in seconds.
This Geography lesson many will feel it is as boring as standing on a line, feeling hungery and waiting for your order to be taken. When is my turn?
Did this deny the fact that we are all humans and feel hungry?
We may order different food but at the end we are feeding our stomachs.
Souls need to be filled, not only with prayers but also with the pleasure of making someone else safe and happy. Making the society a clean trusted place to stay in.
I am not criticizing the west by being a western area. Your life style is even found in some Arab Muslim countries. It is all over the world. But what I am trying to say is we are fed up to the bone of leading a robot like life blaming our anccestors of puting us in this situation. The clue is in changing this unchaste world that out of freedom of choice disasters happened.
An obligatory Hijab is like reading a Holy Book without understanding. It is only a book like any other books but as what your parents told you it is Holy, then you just copy them but did you ask them why is it a Holy Book? No, you don't even have time to do that. But some women are all ears when it comes to praising their beauty or their characters, achieveements in life and the last thing women want to hear is their success won't be done without the help of someone else. Women like to be thanked for what they have done. They will just feel sore in the soul if they mention another equal one to them in success.
The greater thing to say is :
"Thanks the Almighty and I did nothing compared to your blesses that were given to me by Your Guidance."
If you reach that point of pure faith, then I can tell you that you reached your goal.
And if many didn't go along with the topic, this doesn't mean that they are lower and I am higher. It is only a point of view that gives space to other women to view it from another window.

dnihila,

This is getting very back and forth. Here's the thing. Nobody is saying that modesty is a terrible thing; to the contrary. However, there are a few problems that I see regarding hijab that I'd like to share.

1. When it is imposed on women instead of being a personal choice. This happens all the time.

2. When the women who are wearing hijab get prideful about it, legalistic, and condemn all other women in their hearts, minds, words to each other, etc. who don't wear hijab. We all really know that not wearing hijab does not always equal being immodest. What some women wear under their abayas would make a western woman blush (and these women are considered righteous muslimahs).

3. Wearing hijab or not has zero effect on how women are perceived and treated in primarily Muslim countries. It is pretty apparent that the more oppressive cultures are to their women, the more harrassed the women are going to be despite the way they dress to be invisible and not attract attention. If the status of women is low IT DOES NOT MATTER. When you have a segment of the population that is supposed to remain invisible, anonymous, who is considered worth half a man legally, and take whatever is dished out to them, then it stands to reason that they will be just as objectified as if they were on the cover of Maxim magazine- chattel.

4. I have an Afghani friend who used to tell me that she was a terrible Muslim and was going to hell and that she had come to terms with it. She dressed very modestly, but did not wear hijab. She fasted, she prayed, and she could read the Quran in Arabic. She dreaded getting married and turned down every marriage proposal sent to her through the Afghani Muslim network of mothers and aunts in the eastern US. She looked to marriage as something she should do, but in the future. In this future, she would marry this fictional perfect guy, start wearing hijab, have kids, give up her career and stay home. Unfortunately, she felt that the reality would be a lot more grim for her. It broke my heart to see her being so fatalistic.

Another friend who never wore hijab but dressed modestly, was going to be forced into a marriage with an older man she didn't know, and was expected to move to Egypt, even though she herself had never lived there. Her parents were very strict with her (even though her brother was allowed to do all kinds of things Muslims consider sinful). Her future looked very grim to her. She wound up eloping with a Catholic guy, changed her first and last name, and moved as far across the country from her family as was possible.

My point is, these girls had no hope. All of this legalism was a standard ideal for them to either aspire to or that would be forced on them at their marriages. Hijab represents a lot of negative things, even to a lot of Muslim women. Legalism, no choice, lack of personal identity, etc.

Then do we all agree on the fact that religion is not what people do as Christians, Muslims or Jews but it is what the three Holy Books tell you.
If I see a Muslim lady killing her neighbore then she is not presenting Islam. Because Islam is the Holy Quran, Sacred Holy Hadiths by the Almighty and prophet Muhammed's Sacred Hadiths. That is Islam. Not Ahmed not Hind.
It is the same for Christianity and Judasim. And this is the fact that led many into giving other Holy religions unfair judgments by criticizing the religion through its followers.
When I came in here, I didn't ask a Christian about Christianity but I read some parts of the Holy Bible and some parts of Torah to find out that I am asked to believe in the two of them as part of my faith and no human will explain the differences of the two Holy religions but the Creator. And that will happen in the Day of Judgement. What I am doing and other Muslims is to clear many wrong ideas to Muslims first through a Christian window. This wasn't planned but I guess it was our destiney to discover many things together in this forum. Do you think that I knew everything before hand, I didn't because your questions and the claims I read made me read the Holy Books with logic.
You as Christians enlightened me with things I have never knew about Islam because I wasn't taught in that way. I used to hear everyone saying that Christians and Jews are our enemies they are not believers because it is the result of wrong teachings by people who didn't understand more than what they were able to understand. One verse in the Holy Quran made me believe that the Almighty words are direct and last forever. My Muslim brothers in her were helped by the Chriatian and Jewish hands to find the Truth that every human needs to know that no one is superior than the other and clean societies need to be built. And this Forum taught me that it can't be done by one party. I can build my own house by my money but I need builders and I need equipments and that's what is happening in here that money does nothing more than it stays as it is. No clever builders, no helpful hands and new tools the house will be the worst place ever. And this house is not built for me, this is what I learned, it is for all of us. One Earth, one Kind, one love and one peace.
I really didn't thank Christian Forums before but I guess that it is time to say thank you for giving me the chance to know what's the Real Islam is. What's Christianity and what's Judasim. Who Moses is, who Jesus is and who Muhammed is. ( peace be upon them all)
