  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And when they "come to their senses" afterwards, and don't realize they made the right choice, then again, I don't believe they were truly saved in the first place.

And it sounds to me like you're agreeing, but for different reasons.
There is no such thing as "truly saved," only beliefs. "Truly saved" is hyperbole one Christian uses to declare another more Christian than themselves. It's a meaningless term.

If you are a critical thinker and would like to evaluate evolution theology take a look at this six part series and then come back and let me know what you think.

It was probably made by some dishonest fools. Why should I wasted my time on it? Can you give me their best argument? I see that they openly admit that religious belief is not valid. Faith, as you know, is the worst reason to believe something.

ETA: Here is a reasonable offer. First are these people educated in this topic at all? If they are I will watch it until they make either their first lie or first incredibly stupid mistake.

And in return you need to watch a video of my choice.

Oh my...

and would like to evaluate evolution theology...

What is "evolution theology"? that's not even a grammatically correct phrase.

How about you summarize some of the main points in your own words?

Going by that logic, Judaism is true and Christianity is false, because Judaism came first.

Cain killed Abel, whose sacrifice was the representation of Jesus. So Christian came first. (Semantics)

They only have one main point, the same one main point as other Creationists. From the "beliefs" section of that website:

"Creation—We believe in the unerring veracity of the Bible. It is the Word of God from cover to cover. This belief includes the literal interpretation of Genesis 1—that God created the heavens and the earth in 6 literal days and rested the 7th, and that the signs of His creative work exist in the natural world even today."

No, that is just another myth and in no was does Abel represent Jesus. That is poor theology on your part to say the least.

SDA is the ideological mother from which YEC came forth. Apparently these videos are by a SDA pastor who doesn't appear to have any science background and seems to focus primarily on worldview rather than the science.

I was speaking mostly from my own personal experience talking to these people and hearing their stories.
Do you really think someone is going to tell you in person that they are leaving the Christian faith because they find Doctrine X so offensive?

On the Internet, where they can voice themselves anonymously, they can tell their true feelings.

I would actually recommend watching the video for the first four or five minutes I did not know how extremely wrong and ignorant that Scalia was. He contradicted himself more than once and demonstrated that he had no understanding of how science was done at all. Here is to hoping that Trump does not find another Scalia.

Hello Zone.
Almost all observations have error bars associated with them. That shows that evidence is not perfect either.
This was the point that I was making, observational data cannot be trusted. The ideology itself is based on a false premise.
Yes, that is because science works.
Any ideology is limited by the a prior premises.
That only shows that you are being a hypocrite.
Everyone is a hypocrite. Socrates said, everyone was a liar also.
I freely admit to being a deeply flawed person, in fact that is my boast. Hope your not claiming to be a superior primate by any chance.
When you rely on scientific theories every day of your life you should give them a bit more respect than that or perhaps you should consider not using the science that you do not understand and seem to hate.
Science is radically altering the lives of the primates. Science is altering even the geology of the planet itself.

Science categorizes history into epochs. The Holocene epoch is the geological epoch that began after the Pleistocene at approximately 9,700 BCE. We are in the Holocene epoch at present. Now, there is an increasing group of scientists that are proposing a new epoch. The Anthropocene epoch is a proposed epoch dating from when human activities started to have a significant global impact on Earth's geology and ecosystems. The date given for the commencement of the Anthropocene epoch
is the 1950's.

The impact of science on the world at all levels, has been
profoundly under estimated.

I don't hate science, I don't hate any ideology. I acknowledge the limitations of all primate ideology. We are in need of a another inquisition, we may not have too much time left.

Actually, the earth will chug along regardless of what humans do to it.
Hello US.

We are having a dramatic effect on the earth's atmosphere and ecosystems. We have been driving innumerable species into extinction. If we continue on the present heading, we may even precipitate our own extinction, the clock is ticking.

You did not understand the point, which was that the blood sacrfice Able offered represented Jesus

Hello Zone.

This was the point that I was making, observational data cannot be trusted. The ideology itself is based on a false premise.

But you are wrong again. The fact that there can be errors in no way makes science untrustworthy. It meerely means that one must be careful in ones conclusions. It still works and theism does not work.

Any ideology is limited by the a prior premises.

What supposed a priori premises do you think that scientists use? I am betting that you get this one wrong.

Everyone is a hypocrite. Socrates said, everyone was a liar also.
I freely admit to being a deeply flawed person, in fact that is my boast. Hope your not claiming to be a superior primate by any chance.

Yes, but the sort that you do is rather unforgivable. And you and I are both primates. I don't see why you stuck that in there. What is your excuse for relying on the science that you deny every day?

Science is radically altering the lives of the primates. Science is altering even the geology of the planet itself.

That is not "science". Man may be altering the planet, but that is not "science altering the planet".

Correction, scientists categorize history into epochs.

The impact of science on the world at all levels, has been
profoundly under estimated.

Again, not science, man.

I don't hate science, I don't hate any ideology. I acknowledge the limitations of all primate ideology. We are in need of a another inquisition, we may not have too much time left.

It appears that you do. Do you oppose teaching evolution in schools? If you do what do you have against reality?

No, it does so only for a very few Christians. But that is merely their own interpretation of the Bible. It appears to be far from correct.
