why dont you christians like mormons

Hi folks,

I do not hate anyone. I do not hate Mormons. I have a question about Mormons. I have felt very discriminated here in Utah (by Mormons). I've tried very hard to make friends. I don't understand why Mormons hate Baptists. I don't feel HATE belongs anywhere in Christianity. Do Mormons consider themselves to be Christians? I've been told that they do. If this is the case, why do they hate me. I DEFINITELY don't hate them.

As far as I’m concerned I have no problems with any religion because I am not a religious person myself. Just incase if your wondering, I am a believer in Jesus Christ, but that's not religious to me because it is simply the “Truth”

I don't hate anyone, bu heaven forbid you mention that you are a Mormon to them-you'll get the cold choulder. To my understanding, many members of the Church in Utah fell a little arogant, and snobbish, surrounded as they are by members of the same church. They let their pride get to them a little too much. Sorry you are on the brunt end of it. I also think that there is something that just get both churches here (mormon, baptist) angry at each other. Both seem to single the other out, it seems. The baptists had a convention in SLC that was based soely on how to convert mormons from the evil that entrapts them.

I don't know the true reason for their discrimination to you, but we do consider ourselves Christian. Just try to set an example for them, and I hope that you make some friends with them.(there's got to be some non-discriminating out there ) Good luck.

I think Joseph Smith was a nutcase and I really don't like the fact that the Mormon Church claims to be Christian.

I find some of their beliefs to be odd, but most people think that of religions other than their own.

I can't tell you how much your post meant to me. Thank you so much for your kind words. You know, when I was living in Louisiana, I saw some discrimination towards LDS people. My husband and I spent a few weeks discussing the Mormon philosophy with a couple of Elders who were on missions. They were so nice! That was our first experience with Mormons. At that time my husband and I both were appalled at how anyone could have any kind of problem with Mormon people.

We've had an awful time in Utah; but it's nice to know that all Mormons DON'T hate me!

I just wish people could see that we are Chirstians. Our beliefs and practices may be odd, but we still follow the bible-all of it, adn we worship Chirst-the one that is God's Son, and died on the cross. I personally know that I am a Christian, and yet I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I personally feel that all of you are Christian as well, and God's Children. You spread His word, and God wants us to do that. Thanks again.
