Why don't protestants bless Mary?

Are Jesus's Divine and Human Natures united in One Person?

Orthodox Christians believe this. Orthodox Christians also believe that Jesus Christ was born physically. Non-orthodox Christians believe that Jesus was not born physically, but mysteriously emerged from Mary without passing through her birth canal.

My understanding is that the Eastern Orthodox believe that Mary was born miraculously, without the loss of Mary's bodily virginal integrity.

In any case, that is what the Catholic Church has always believed.

I think that you testify to this by accepting the N.T. Canon from the Catholic Church.

The Orthodox do not believe in the Immaculate Conception. We believe that she was conceived as all of the rest of us are conceived. The Orthodox don't see sex as dirty. Nor do we believe that a married couple should only engage in sex to produce a baby.

We weren't talking about the Immaculate Conception, but about the Ever-Virginity of Mary. The Catholic Church teaches that Mary gave birth miraculously, retaining her bodily virginal integrity. Do many of the Eastern Orthodox agree with that?

As far as the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception: we agree that Mary was conceived through holy sex (marital sex is holy and is for both procreation and bonding), but that she--the New Eve and Mother of God--was preserved from all stain of Original Sin through the merits of her Divine Son and Savior Jesus Christ.

What do you believe about the holiness of the Blessed Virgin?

Mary was born in sin.

Mary was not born the way Jesus was born, of water and blood.

By accepting the N.T. Canon from the Catholic Church, you testify to the whole Tradition of the Catholic Church, including the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God.

Jesus's Divine and Human Natures are united in one Person.

Since they are, Mary--in being the Mother of Jesus--is the Mother of God.

That's quite a leap of logic there! It certainly doesn't match up with anything I've read in the NT.

Mary is the Mother of Jesus

Jesus is God

Therefore Mary is the Mother of God.

As far as the N.T., how do you know which books are in it without the authority of the Catholic Church, which holds that Mary is the Immaculate Mother of God?

Yeah, that's the leap of logic I was talking about.

I know which books are in it by picking up my bible and opening it up and seeing them for myself.

Yeah, that's the leap of logic I was talking about.

How is it a leap of logic?

And how do you know that the right books were put into your Bible? Are you relying on the authority of the Catholic Church, which holds that the Mother of God is the Immaculate New Eve?

Or what other historical source are you relying on?

How is it a leap of logic?

Anyone can say that if one thing is true, then another thing is true, therefore something else is true. But it doesn't make the end statement true. I could say that my car is in my garage, and my garage houses my car, therefore my garage will give my better transportation than my car.

And how do you know that the right books were put into your Bible? Are you relying on the authority of the Catholic Church, which holds that the Mother of God is the Immaculate New Eve?

If I was, then I'd be relying on the authority of those who make things up. Your Catholic Church also looks to a "pope". I see nothing in God's word telling us anything about having a pope, or looking up to him as an authority figure.

.

How is your logic comparable to this perfect logic?:

Mary is the mother of Jesus

Jesus is God

Therefore Mary is the Mother of God

As far as the N.T. Canon, again, how do you know which books are in it except by the Tradition which teaches the Marian doctrines?

Scripture says that all nations will call Mary blessed. Why is it that so many Protestants refuse to do so? Are they so afraid of appearing Catholic that they are willing to disrespect the Mother of our Lord? The only time they ever even talk about Mary when they either drag her out for Christmas or, in extreme cases, when they are disparaging her to say she was merely an incubator and no one special. What is with that?

Blessed Mary mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Did I just break a stereotype? :)
