  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the USA we observe the Julian calender.

No, the Gregorian calendar. The same as in Sweden. However, the way that days of the week are understood varies a little.

The Gregorian Calender was just an improvement of Ceasar's calender. It still adopted the same days as ceasars with sunday being the first day and Saturday being the last.

Because... it is. Saturday and Sunday form the weekend - the two ends of the week. The Sabbath is on a Saturday because God rested on the last day of the week, while the Christian day of rest is on a Sunday because Jesus rose on a Sunday.

Christians don't observe the Sabbath, they observe Jesus' resurrection.

The weekend is at the end of my week... not on both sides or whatever lol.

I read somwhere, that the reason most christians went to sunday for worship was way back when the pagans (which were alot back then) worshipped Sunday. To get them to convert to christiananity they moved the day to sunday. Do not know how true this is. Paul says we can worship God any and everday, and John says we should follow the ten commandments. Both in the new testament.

Then which day should be considered the Sabbath? Could you enumerate the Ten Commandments for us?

Given that the Jews, AFAIK, have always considered Saturday the 7th day and the book of Acts says that both that the Christians met on the first day of the week and that Paul and his companions went to synagogue on the Sabbath as was their custum ... it certainly seems reasonable that the reason they met on the first day of the week (Sunday) is simply because the Jewish founders of the Christian faith were busy on Saturday.

So they went against God’s commandments because of the Pagans?

We aren’t discussing the option to worship any day you wish, we are discussing which day should be kept holy with no work preformed.
