it would be alot easier, and hey, you wouldnt have any atheists and thats a good thing right?

God has a way of reaching out to people. Like once, when I would have died in a car accident on the freeway. Seconds before impact, i heard His voice, warning me, and the next moment He took physical control of me and made me stop in time. Christianity is the real deal, my friend.

why doesnt god just tell us he exists

God has made it abundantly clear to everyone that he exists: "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 1:19-21). "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God" (Psalms 14:1). "Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves" (Psalms 100:3). "In him we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28). "By him all things consist" (Colossians 1:17).

God exists because there was a book saying he exists? in that case why dont you believe in the greek and roman gods? all holy books claim that their particular god exists, what makes this one special.

reguarding the other poster. why doesnt god do that with everyone? ive been in car wrecks before and the only warning i got before it happened was thinking " oh four letter word"

God exists because everything else exists: "the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead" (Romans 1:20).

in that case why dont you believe in the greek and roman gods?

The Greek and Roman gods cannot be God because "there is none other God but one" (1 Corinthians 8:4).

all holy books claim that their particular god exists, what makes this one special.

Any book which contradicts anything in the Holy Bible cannot be holy; what makes the Holy Bible special is that it's the Word of God: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).

Well, for me, I believe it's because I've asked Him to lead me, and take charge of my life. I try to follow His will, and He blesses me for that. That's one awesome thing about Christianity - the rewards for obedience (or at least trying) is very real. God wants us to realise that we need Him - for everything. Life is a struggle without Him. I've been unemployed a few times, and both times I asked Him to help me, and He did - giving me a better job every time. The key is asking - humbly.

I've had a personal experience of Jesus, therefore God has proved to me He exists. It's like that story where the man stands on a house during a flood and prays to God for help. God sends him a helicopter, rescue crew and boat, and the man rejects them, as he believes God will save him. When he dies and goes to heaven, he asks God why He didn't save him. God says He did, when he sent all those things to the man.

Um, returning to your initial question then: what exactly do you mean by "tell us"? I read Hawking and I presume that his book "tells us" his viewpoint, something about himself. I read the newspaper and I find it "tells us" about the events of the day.

What is it? Is it some unmistakable little voice in your mind? Whose to say we've not just become so used to that communication that we ignore it, "conscience-seared"?

Hm, well, I could think of a number of explanations, including the point about not being sensitive to it, any more. We don't really live in a culture that tells us credibly to acknowledge or attend God every day.

How would God do that in a way that is (a) compatible with a consistant, reliable, predictable creation and (b) you would actually believe it?

He did, and He does. you have a personal invitation to Hear Him if you simply humble yourself before Him.

Belief is not enough, The demons believe and yet they do not love Him. Our relationship is one based in Love.

Pastors and saved Christians have given their views in church, the internet and through books, CDs and DVDs from product stores online such as Benny Hinn and Jesse Duplantis, both TV ministries. Their testimonials should be enough to believe God is real. If you can wait at the bus stop without getting frustrated then the same experience can be felt for the return of Jesus who could come anytime in the future. Sin committed by Adam and Eve is responsible for God's decision to come later instead of now so that we as Christians have to accept the curse of old age and disease here on Earth, except in heaven where our transformed bodies from death become young and unaffected by time. Only then can everyone feel free to ask that must be a billionth time same question as yours.

well, when i say "tell us" i mean tell the whole of humanity, in plain language, that everyone can hear, that god exists.

bible2: with all due respect, i cannot take you seriously. you seem to think the bible has alot of authority where i do not. until you can get me to why the bible has authority i cant accept anything that the bible says. "well the bible says (insert scripture here)" is not enough. i first started to become an atheist because of the clear contradictions and poor science of the bible. also, all that stuff exists proves is that stuff exists, there does not need to be a creator.

people who said personal experience: i was a christian for the first eighteen or nineteen years of my life (you lose it gradually). i went to church camp and was a jr. deacon at my church. i had those experiences. unfortunately, so has everyone else in all other religions and cults. those experiences are a product of the mind, not of the holy spirit. specifically to andreha, how come a good, faithful person like you has lost their job where a person who loses their faith has never and is going to school to with good grades. there is a problem of evil and good things happening to bad people there but that is not for this thread.

ebia (i love conversing with you btw, you are very smart and thoughtful): i think that how god would tell humanity would not be in line with a consistant world, thats how we would know that it was god. and certainly if there were enough corroborating evidence, i would believe in a heartbeat (note i didnt say worship).

Testimony doesnt get me anywhere. i can swear to you that my dog can fly, will you believe that just based on my testimony? what if my friends tell you too? do you believe it then? or do you have to see it for yourself because there is no evidence that a dog can fly?

if i found out today that god exists, i would most certainly not love him. mass genocide, slavery, child rape, no justice system, might makes right mentality. i dont understand why anybody would worship a being who endorses these things. even if he were to squash me like a bug, i would know that i am right and god is wrong.

If the world weren't consistant and predictable how would be able to make that kind of assessment? And what if God wants to gift us with a constistent and predictable world in which we can use our reason to develop our understanding and ability?

If you and all your friends not only claimed to believe it, but restructured your entire worldviews and the way you lived your lives around it then I might want to investigate further. Particular if those changes were remarkably for the better and/or followed through to the point of death without obvious cult behaviours. And particularly if the claim you were making were of such a nature that it was hard to see where the idea came from and involved an area where human beliefs are particular conservative and resistant to change.

Neither do I. The God I see in Jesus Christ does not endorse those things.

Well,

Is it not so that the God of the past is also the God of today and will forever be? Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit is God! You either believe the Bible as the truth or you don't, otherwise you will be deceiving yourself!

Jesus prayed to the Father, the one you are suggesting cannot be the One Jesus Christ endorses......He did everything to glorify the Father..... Who do you think created Hell? Who kicked lucifer out of Heaven? Who inspired the prophets of old to prophecy the truth? The Bible is the truth my good friend, if you deny the OT as the truth you are denying the true Jesus, the only begotten Son of God!

Why do you think did He sacrifice Himself, for God is righteous and loving, but do not accept sin, we are sinners and as you know the wages of sin is death. Whatever God speaks is the law and He will not go back on His Word.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses is our Father in Heaven! So lets be good children!

the early christians were still very jewish. Paul changed most of what was jewish into christian, not christ. and as for your die for a lie argument (which u never actually made but was implied) may i recommend to you this video series. it is intellectual and well informed. it is also not demeaning in anyway (that i can see) twards christians.

YouTube - DID the disciples die for a lie? (Part 1)

So how would it befit God to reveal Him self to you or anyone else who feels as you do? Perhaps this is why one must humble himself before the Lord first.
