But can you lay down your personal wants and desires and completely surrender yourself, your will, desires and all, into the hands of God no matter how He chooses to work things out in your life?
Everything I have everything I am is in his hands and he loves me enough to take good care of me to provide for my every need. Including my healing in every asspect of my life. Yes he is that loving.

Sure. But then I think every P/C in this forum believes that.

How does this relate to the OP?

The truth is also in the biblical fact that our God good causes and/or allow sickness and suffering. Job is a classic case of this truth, as well as Jesus Christ on the cross. God's purposes could be many and one of them could be for the good of the person enduring it, as in the case of both. Or it can be for punishment, as in Leviticus 26:15,16; Deuteronomy 28:61; Psalm 107:17,17; 2 Kings 5:27; Micah 6:13; Acts 5:4-6, 9-10; 13:11; and 1 Corinthians 11:30.

Why do Christians get sick?

Some sickness comes from God. In Exodus 4: 11 God told Moses: "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him dumb or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?" Stated that simply and directly, the idea sounds repulsive.

Would a loving God want anyone to suffer?

Why would he make a man dumb, deaf, or blind? Yet again and again in Scripture we see that there is far more to God's sovereign plan than our finite minds can comprehend.

God made the disabled and infirm. Babies are born every day with defects.

Many children grow up with congenital deformities. Some people have illnesses that last for years. While it is unexplainable according to our human logic, it is all God's plan and a gift of God's love.

Take me for an example, I was born deaf. God knew me before the conception. That's eternal. God created my inmost being and knitted me together in my mother's womb. This is what the LORD says— "He who made you, Who formed you in the womb, and Who will help you and that before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God. I was DEAF before I was born so God knew that while my body was being formed. Therefore, time should be eternal because God's time is eternal.

God uses circumstances to bring people to Christ, not just to heal them. God's main objective in this world is to save as many as possible from eternal death. People focus on healing is the best opportunity for all while God have other plans. No one knows what is God's specific will and plans for each believer.

Some sickness comes from Satan. Luke 13:11-13 is the account of how Jesus healed a woman who "for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all." When Jesus saw her he said, "Woman, you are freed from your sickness."

God may let Satan cause someone to be sick for his own reasons. The classic biblical example is Job.

Some sickness is chastening for sin. In the twelfth chapter of Numbers we see Miriam getting leprosy because of disobedience to the Lord. And then we see her being healed because of her repentance. In Deuteronomy 28:20-22 God warned the Israelites that he would smite them with pestilence if they sinned. In 2 Kings 5 Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, gets leprosy because of his greed.

The psalmist wrote, "Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Thy word" (Ps. 119:67).

The question posed by the OP (Why doesn’t God heal amputees?) is one of those gotcha questions atheist like to pose against P/C’s. It’s a good question posed for all the wrong reasons but it does effect those sincere people who want an answer. The OP provides a good answer, IMO, but which I feel, based on 1 Peter 3.15, deserves an answer.

If you do not agree with the answer provided in the OP, I would like to hear how you would answer it.

you beat me to it !!!!!!!!!:)

I was very bothered in the spirit about this topic So I pondered on it all afternoon
and then the answer came to me by the Holy Spirit.

It takes the gifts of "faith" and "working of miracles" to make a person whole.
This is so totally different than the "gift of healings."

Amputees do NOT need a healing, They are not sick. They need a Divine Miracle
to be made whole.

But, Edie, you have only sidestepped the question The follow-up question is going to be, “You believe in miracles don’t you? Then why doesn’t God work miracles for amputees?” And we are right back where we started.

You have to dig deeper for answers that really satisfy.

I didn't side-step the question I answered it .
I could have gone further with my answer .

Yeshua cleansed the 10 lepers but only 1 was made whole.
Why?

Then you are saying that amputees are whole as much as those who are deaf, blind, disabled and diseased.

No, I am not. I want to know if Jimbeaux knows why only 1 of the lepers was made whole.

So, by being whole shows their true salvation?

Whole as in healthy in the eyes of Christians or whole as in spiritually healthy in the eyes of God?
