  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Why does religion exist ?

God allows Satan to fashion many elaborate false religions that attempt to obscure the true religion, which is the 'called out ones' answering the call of God to be a part of the restoration of his damaged kingdom, becoming perfected beings that will replace the rebels, thus completing the "restitution of all things spoken by the mouth of all the holy prophets since the world (age) began." The true religion is 'answering the Call'.

Can you prove your claim, without relying upon logical fallacies such as circular logic (god exists because the word of god says so), special pleading (christianity is true because it has a holytext, even though other religions do to), or other such common fallacies?

One of the reasons I'm an atheist is that God seems to be nothing more than what our imagination can create.
what do you mean? have you ever been able to imagine anything you didn't imagine? have you ever been aware of something you really weren't? do you see what i'm getting at?

it seems a little silly to say that if someone can conceive of something, it must be imaginary, and if someone can't conceive of something, it must not be true. it's a catch-22
It seems that the only reason we have religion is because we created it and I can't understand why it still exists in today's world.
it exists because people need it. people need a purpose to give them direction, and a "self" with which they can identify themselves. i would even go so far as to say that our brains are built for religious experience. we're religious because it's natural for us to be. :) . . . . why it's natural is a different question though.

Is there any believers willing to help me understand their beliefs - or they reasons why they still believe in their God ?
well, it's my experiences first and foremost if i'm going to be honest, but more analytically, i think it's absolutely profound in the way christianity describes humility, love, and faith. i would still consider it something worth believing in, even if i didn't believe it myself. i know this probably isn't satisfactory, but i'm not up to writing an essay atm. :p

God does actually exist because of people who have actually experienced Him/Her/It.

The rest is just society in conflict, and God being misrepresented by those attempting to make money or having a cool moment. :)

Interesting causality.

I am psychic and your picture was of interest. You wear your world on your sleeve, which was your intention with your picture even though that picture is not you :)

Guys the philosophy forum has gotten fun :)

I´m sure this comment is extremely witty and funny - too bad I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about or trying to get at.

When I was younger, I experienced the God and Goddess in a personal way. I experienced magic, ritual, and the sense of oneness that came from a casting circle. Then I grew up and realized it was all a mind game.

As soon as you can show me that this 'actual experience' of god isn't delusional, you'll have something. Until then my experience says your experience is bunk. Unfortunately my experience also has the evidence on its side.
