As far as I know, the only person God ever wanted to kill was Oral Roberts (and, let's be honest, who among us hasn't?) but that was only because Oralbob owed Him 8 million big ones.

lol, maybe against the forum rules, but lol nonetheless ^_^

gungfu, are you still here? Just checking.
There appear to be a lot of rules about Christianity, but the core is to communicate with God and enjoy mutual respect. He calls us his children--which might appear demeaning at first, unless you think of the largest possible personality in the universe taking a personal interest and promising to provide for you and watch your back. It's a very nice religion to be in, when you're in the middle of it.

God made us. And we showed our appreciation by ignoring His commandments. We deserve His wrath. The 'unscary' part is the gospel. God seems evil only to the evil who think themselves otherwise.

It's good that you are asking questions about what you don't understand!

God desires that all would come to a "saving" knowledge of Him.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17

So, according to His Word He desires for everyone to know Him now. But He has given everyone a free will to choose to believe in Him or not. No one forces you to believe. Now, God in His love & mercy has created a place for people to go after they die that is a complete separation from Him. That is really what Hell is ~ a complete separation from God. If people don't want to be in his presence here on earth, then why would they want to be in His presence after they die?

Of course, God goes to extremes to draw all men unto himself. He really loves us.

Martin Luther said, "Love God and do whatever you want". The premise behind this is, if you truly love God you will do the things that please Him and you won't be a target for legalistic & controlling Christians!

I hope this helps!

Bless you in your search for The Truth!

If Hell is a place for those who don't wish to be in his presence, where do the people who dont accept christ, but wish to be in his presence go? Me, Myself, I do not believe in a religion here on earth. I accept that there is a god, but I do not have a set of rules that I follow. I believe that god does not need to be impressed by his own design in order for him to accept a being into the afterlife.

This saddens me, someone comes to this forum asking honest questions, not meant to be offensive or antagonistic stated in his second post on this thread. This person is a new poster is relatively new since they only have 6 posts at the moment.

After the first page he has recieved attacks on his way of thinking, and accusations for foolishness in his understanding of Christianity. Why do you think he is posting in the Questions by non Christians forum?

When someone has to check and see if the OP is still there (thank you heron for asking, it shows care and concern that I believe our Lord would be proud of), it tells me that we probably have scared off someone with genuine questions and longing to know God better, would you treat someone like this if they came to your church.

It's not that God is sending anyone there the truth is without Christ we are well on our way by default because of sin. What God is trying to do is save us from our impending doom. I use this anology at times (ok I've added to it a bit)

If we are in a building that is on fire, it's hot the smoke is thick and we can hardly see in front of us, different people are saying go this way and go that way ... then a fireman comes in to show us the way out, to save us from the fire ... he says come and follow me ... but others don't believe him and choose to find their own way out they end up perishing in the fire but those who followed the fireman are saved ... because he was the only one with the knowledge of how to get out . . . you'd say surely those other folks would have followed him but they chose not to. It's the same with Christ, He's the only one way out, in fact He gave himself for that purpose so that we could be free. See God is trying to save us not kill us!!

When you hear the message of salvation know that it is to rescue you not to condemn you!!

Thank You! I was just about to post my thoughts on this but you said everything I was about to.
Come one people! Christians are loving, caring people. We are supposed to follow Jesus Christ. Well...FOLLOW HIM! Stop attacking people who are searching for answers and just give them the answer and help them along! Obviously, some people did just that but others...*shakes head*

G-d bless,
sc

Ps. To the poster: Please dont make your judgement on some Christians. Look at the majority. I think your on the right track and your going to find the Light :prayer:

'Where is the love??' Where is the lack of it? I don't see any posts that attack the person or make suggest that he is inferior. I see one that might be considered such, but it is one line long. Show us some examples of unloving posts in this thread. Apart from that, gungfu is getting some Christian perspective. Kudos for those who used the bible. Isn't love "a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained"? Love doesn't always mean soft words. I know that in some cases it must be, but don't make it seem like nicey nice = love.

Truly, God does not want to kill us all, and Christianity is only dark and scary so much as the history of the human race is scary... :help: At the same time, though, it is quite comforting; you eat deadly poison and fall down unconcious, ( your last thought being "I'm going to die") and wake up to hear that you have already been cured... Control by fear? I'm a follower of not out of fear, but love.

*SIGH* i wish you people would stop preaching scripture, theres nothing more boring to a newcomer than to have biblical quotes thrust in your face, how about introducing yourself to this person then gently answer his questions with your own words, each newcomer that gets put off here not to return is another tool for christ wasted

so the people here are lacking a personality??.......thats god made also, use your personas as you would in normal life.........

I was not implying that whatsoever; forgive me.

Try to understand those that have been Christians their entire life, and some are without experience in the common struggles and questions of non-Christians.

Being blessed with a lifetime of community instead of being blessed with a lifetime of intellectual individuality, soul-searching, and philisophical solitude (which was my experience as a non-Christian for 19 years) attempting to address something that one has never encountered except in the bible, a person can find themselves at a loss for words, and so resorting to what others have spoken and you have no knowledge of seems the logical thing to do, when you want to identify with someone and help their need...

Bless me
