  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why does God need angels?

Why does an all powerful God need angels at all?

Right, he does not. He does not have any needs or dependencies.

He chose to create them as part of his divine plan. He uses them as messengers and guardians. He even use Satan to demonstrate the power of Jesus.

I'm agreeing with you...

I would argue that God does not micromanage and that He works in an hierarchical way. He made creation, and it is the privilege of His created beings to carry out His goals. God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. Could God have just as easily snapped His fingers and instantly filled the earth with life? Yes, but He chose to achieve this goal instead by instruction Adam and Eve to have children, and those children to have even more children. In the end the earth is filled with people just as God directed.

Likewise, the angels are God's workers. When it was time to tell Mary of the conception of Jesus, it was an Angel that brought the message. Same with the father of John the Baptist. And an angel brought support to Jesus after his temptation by Satan in the wilderness.

Could God just do everything Himself? Yes, but then what was His point of even creating the universe? The universe is composed of a lot of moving parts. If God is going to micromanage all those parts, then they are not independent and are redundant.
