Why do you type "G-d"? Just wondering!

Tracie,
Shalom!
I think I speak for all of us Messianic Jews when I say that we're not offended by your using the word.

The thing is Messianics normally have a lot of reverence with what we consider holy. Writing 'G-d' is like saying 'HaShem' (which means 'The Name') rather than trying to add vowels to the Yud-Hey-Vav-Hey name. In other words, we're sort of acknowledging that His name is sacred, therefore we're avoiding using it in ordinary situations. It's one of our ways of honoring the commandment of not using His name in vain. Hope this helps!

In Mashiach,

Oblio,
I guess it is okay, it's just a matter of choice. We tend to avoid writing it because no human reverence is enough when we're talking about the LORD G-D OF HOSTS! :)

When speaking, we, Messianic Jews, tend to go with HaShem (THE NAME) or one of His titles, such as Adonai (LORD), El Shaddai (G-d Almighty), Elohim, the Holy one of Israel, The Eternal, etc. But then again, it's a matter of style.

What we tend to avoid is the word 'Christ' or 'Christian' when referring to the Messiah or to ourselves. Long story though, deserves its own topic. ;)

We don't go around pointing fingers at those who spell it differently, though. :)

In Messiah,
