i do not dance anymore, but i did for a very long time.
it was my love, my passion.
i danced because it gave me a feeling that nothing else in life could ever give me. not my family, my faith, nothing. it was a feeling that nothing could touch me and that i loved myself. for once.

i miss danceing.

Because dancing is one of my favorite ways of worshipping God. Because dance, when it is sincere and genuine, becomes prayer. Because it teaches me self-discipline and self-control, and it lets me express my deepest thoughts, feelings, and desires to God! :)

Dancing has been part of my life since I was very little. Dancing makes me forget the negative in a snap. I personally enjoy dancing salsa. But all kind of music works. Also, the wonderful music from church's choir. Enchanting.

Why do you dance? I've always thought this was an interesting question and one that makes you stop and think. I've always loved to dance for as long as I can remember( and that's pretty long. lol) Have you ever watched a child dance? As soon as they hear music they begin to dance about with such a free spirit of joy & happiness. Oh, what a blessing to see.
When I dance it fills me with joy. It touches my soul like nothing else.
Does anyone else feel this way?
God bless!

:)

I know what you mean. I feel really happy when I dance. But lately I haven't been feeling like dancing. some how it's like a light that was put out and I don't know if it will ever come back. Maybe I should just get up and dance.
Anyways I took dancing in Highschool for 2 years and then one day, my teacher told me that I couldn't dance, just b/c I had a heart problem. And I swear, I can dance. I don't care what she thinks.
Ever seen Shall We dance? It's the same way I feel about it, when Princess Pualina was talking about what made her want to dance.
And third, I cry when I watch others dance, b/c I wish I was dancing too, but I never get jelouce. I just love watching.

I love dancing because it's free spirited and playful.

I can't do actual choreography and have failed miserably at every dance course I've taken. But I sure can freestyle. I have a vivid imagination, I don't care about being non-conformist and since I'm a martial artist I can use my body in ways most people can't.

Dance for me is like... I'm a cat! I'm a cat in slowmotion. Shaking and twitching like on speed. Being surrounded by ninjas. Change form! Now I'm a raging bull. Change form! Now I'm the element of water, constantly flowing. Change form! Now I'm a robot! Change form! Now I'm a dwarf, crouching amongst towering giants! Change form! Now I'm just sexy, seductive and a tad queer. Change form! Now I'm a mad boxing kangaroo. Etc.

It's play. Fantasy. Joy.

i just love dance.Dancing is expressing what you feel.I dance because its makes me happy.I think there were two things that got me interested in this kind of dancing. One was the sheer physical joy of the movement, and the fact that there was a shape to it rather than just jogging about. And the other was the music. A good tune can turn an average dance into a great dance.Really i just love music and dance.

When I first started dancing it was because I saw a how-to dvd about belly dancing at a friend's house and I instantly asked to borrow it to learn how to dance like that. That was back when I was 12 and I have never stopped dancing since, I am now 20.

During that time I was very vulnerable. I had very few friends that I could trust, and as such very few things that I could do outside of the house and Church. So when I picked up belly dancing it was truly a God-send. I felt so much more confident in who I am in Christ, I was able to develop my own style which gave me the freedom to be creative and I finally had a way to express myself outside of my writings.

Whenever I am down or I need to vent out something, or if I just wanna have fun and enjoy life, I pop on my favorite songs and just go for it. I also use my dancing to praise God, and thank Him for the body that He gave me.

There is a book about belly dancing called "Grandmother's Secrets" that I have read over and over again. In one of the chapters it has an activity where you sit on the floor and you stretch out your legs before you, and you tell your life's story from them by noting each scar, bump, bruise and so on. This has really helped me in seeing that I am wonderfully made in God's sight.

In short I use my dancing to thank God for all He has done for me, and I praise the wonderous things that He has yet to do in my life.

:)
