  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What you should seek is God's Holy Spirit to be assured of His presence. There are specific words to pray for to accomplish this;the "baptism of the Holy Spirit." But it can't be a routine prayer,it needs to be a prayer of faith filled with a deep desire to have this experience with God.In time, according to His schedule,if you have eliminated most of the sin in your life,God should grant your prayer request if you keep your prayers going. When this occurs, the Holy Spirit will come to you in an unforgettable experience that will fill you with overwhelming feelings of love and joy.THEN YOU WILL BELIEVE IN GOD FOR CERTAIN !

I cannot tell you why you should believe in God or what you need to do. That's really between and, . . . , well, God.

I believe in God because I reached a point in my life where the way I was living wasn't working for me anymore. I became depressed, angry, and violent, and I had come to rely on alcohol for anything resembling sanity. I reached a point where even drinking didn't really make me happy. I ended up going into treatment and began attending AA meetings. There, the sticking point for me was that they said to stay sober, I would eventually have to believe in God. I fought this, and tried to work the steps the best I could without God and eventually became depressed, angry, violent, and ultimately drunk. When I came back with my tail between my legs, I was told that I would have to be willing to do whatever it takes. This made me think a lot about the God stuff, and I found myself calling out to something, whatever my conception of God was at that time, "I don't know if I believe in you, but I am willing to, if you can help." I believe now, because I believe that that prayer was answered. I have been sober now for 6 and 1/2 years. And, even though I still struggle sometimes with depression, I have found that my thoughts and feelings have improved along with my spiritual condition.

Why do I believe in God? I saw others who beloeved in God and they seemed to be having a good time to I took a gamble and decided that I would believe in God. Many years later this is no longer a gamble, it is my life. I believe in God because He is always there for me and He has never ever let me down. This does not mean that He has always given me what I wanted but He has always given me what I have needed. In my view, no one can say or do fairer than that. He is with me when I laugh and He is with me when I cry, He knows everything about me and He still loves me.:clap:

I find that a life without believing in God is rather sad and miserable. I have had some of my own personal experiences where I have felt the presence of God in my life or experiences that I believe would have literally killed me if God was not there to save me when I prayed.

Why do I believe in God? Because there was nothing I did to fathom up the story, He did all the convincing I needed. I was basically agnostic in college, and I took a chance and prayed to this God I never knew before. He revealed His truth to me thru the reading of the Scriptures. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. God is why I believe in God.

Why do you believe in God?

Because He saved me.

I realized that if I was to die without Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I would end up in Hell. I knew I was a sinner. I knew I wasn’t a Christian because of my sinful life but I did not know I would be JUDGED on my sins and that if I was found without Christ I would end up in Hell for eternity. I thought Hell was just for really bad people, not someone like me. I didn’t realize at the time that I was one of these “really bad people.” We all are before Christ.

I saw how wretched my sin was, how wretched I really was, how I was going to be judged according to my sins, how the punishment for my sins was eternity in Hell. But most importantly, I saw how Jesus loved me enough to suffer on that cross and take my punishment, how He took the fierce and angry wrath of God that was to fall upon me, and took it upon himself. How he took my sins away when I repented, believed and trusted that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. That’s why I believe.

And you?

And how do I know I'm saved? Because God told me.

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." Romans 8:14-16
