  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You are the one who has stated quite clearly that evolution would disprove design.

Why is IC supposed evidence of design? Because IC systems can not evolve? Isn't that what you are pushing?

It was probably improper to ask you that. I know that you love your wife and kids, that they are the most important thing in your life and I shouldn't have asked. Sorry. I was putting myself in her place but of course no one can really do that anyway.

Strong belief/beliefs does not = the proper understanding of the relationship between sentient beings and everything. ( reality and eternity etc. )

No not at all. I am "pushing" that evolution is not a mindless, unguided, unplanned process with no goals or purpose.

You have quite clearly stated that IC systems can not evolve, therefore they had to be designed.

Are you now saying that IC systems can evolve. Are you saying that the bacterial flagellum can evolve?

I am saying that it hasn't been shown to have evolved, although I have been reading up on Matzke's research and it seems perhaps plausible. I haven't made any conclusions from it as of yet.

If you feel that any science specifically out to do that is pseudo-science. So on one hand you want proof and no secular scientist will go about doing that (at least by intent) and the other you dismiss as unscientific.

The most important reason is that I don't think evolution is a process devoid of intelligence. I am not convinced that IC systems could evolve without the aid of intelligence. However, if it can be shown in a testable, verifiable way that they were evolved they would not provide evidence for Design because it could still be a process capability that would not show the need for design as spelled out in the ID camp.
