Not sure if that would be an attack. But I still can't any other reason why we are here other than to get fattened up and get eaten.

Well, that would make you an evolutionist Smilin, wouldn't it? A religious evolutionist, but an evolutionist anyway. Hey most christians I know believe in evolution and that makes them evolutionst still. Do you have a problem being labeled evolutionist?

I was a bit ticked off when you spoke of people that don't believe in evolution as being stupid and uninformed. (You didn't use those words exactly but it was implied)

Maybe it is because of your negative and disrespectful attitude. Your username sure is misleading.

You surely don't know me then...others would tell you how positive a thinker I am.

As far as disrespectful....disagreeing with someone elses opinion, point of view, statements etc. is not disrespectful.

Lol...and if you really care where my username came from...if you search, you'll find the answer within the forum!!!

Thanks for your interest!

Many Regards,

Evolutionist (in general) is a term used by many fundamentalist who follow the beliefs imposed upon them by their pastors, preachers, religious leaders who state that evolutionary science is a threat to their religion.  That does not apply in my case.

Again, we repeat...science deals ONLY with what can be observed & tested.  Science continuously changes it's theories as new evidence is discovered.

Have you studied evolution?  What are your viewpoints on the topic?

And, yes you 'paraphrased' what I said, totally misrepresenting what I said.  I searched back through the thread and never accused anyone of being 'stupid'.  As far as being 'uniformed', I find many here who have no clue, or have been told straight out lies over what evolutionary science teaches.  (I was totally misinformed myself, until I broke out the text books and began studying again)

Regards,

Smilin

Smilin, you have studied evolution and you don't think it is flawed? Where I come from most pastors support evolution and are quite left-liberal and I can not relate to what you are saying about how people have come to the conclusion that evolution is a wrong theory. In my case, it is quite vice-versa, most people don't have a clue about evolution and therefore believe it, most people think carbon-dating is proof of evolution and that the earth is old.

Homie,

I believe in the micro/macro evolutionary processes that have been documented and can be proven.

All theories have unknowns associated with them.  You said it was flawed, not me.  I simply accept there are still unknowns in all theories.

You misread what I stated.  I never stated 'people concluding evolution is a wrong theory'....I stated that some religious leaders teach it is wrong because they feel it a threat to their religion.  But this is nothing new, the early church felt threatened when it was postulated that the earth wasn't the center of the universe.

You say most people don't have a clue about evolution and therefore believe it?..... How sad.

If most people think carbon-dating is proof of evolution...then they are totally ignorant of what science teaches.

Carbon dating can't be used to determine the age of anything older than 10,000 years old (if I remember correctly)  Correct me if I'm wrong.

The age of the earth was determined by Radioactive decay rates of Uranium.

Yes Thomas, maybe you know. In case you didn't understand, I was trying to illustrate a point. That the majority of evolutionists (is it ok that I use that term? Writing "people that believe in evolution" is just too long.) are as ignorant as creationists (if not more so).

How do you conclude this?

I believe it's 50k years, but on the planetary time scale, close enough. ;)

Actually, I believe several radioactive decay rates have been used to date the earth. I'll have to look for info on that sometime.

Aw, c'mon seesaw: Surely you can think of at least one or two other possible reasons for our being here.

For example: Instead of using your basic sci-fi aliens, you could substitute something or someone powerful enough to create the universe; that way, you wouldn't have to also explain when, where, how and why the aliens were created. A supreme being cuts out the middle man, so to speak.

And since such a being probably would not really need to seed life on distant planets as a future food supply, you could also change the motive. Maybe that supreme being might be interested in being worshiped by his creations.....or with having a relationship with them....

Seems at least as plausible as the unknown alien theory......
