klewis, I think it all depends on the person, you know? I mean, if I'm walking alone in a parking lot and theres a group of guys and they do that, then it's horrible, because it makes me feel really really uncomfortable. Otherwise, if I'm in broad daylight, it's not as bad, because I know people are around. I'm not saying something would happen, I'm jsut saying for some people, it's embarrassing, others, not as much. so, ti all evens out I think.

I for one get aggrivated for the females when I see something like that happen. I've had a couple of females try to hit on me in a number of ways and I thought it was quite unattractive. I just have the crazy idea that if we attract each other's attention it will be by means other than "hitting on" each other. I never liked that term anyway. *shrug*

I have never done that whistling stuff before. I personally feel it's rather inappropriate. Why.. I don't know, I guess it was just the way I was raised. However, I have received female versions of catcalls and horn honks quite a few times while jogging or biking on the highway. It's a great feeling lol :D.

On of my pet peeves is when I see guys honking their car horn and hollering when they see a pretty girl. I always think to myself "YEah, like she's really going to want to go out with you guys!" And then there are the guys that just honk. What's the use of just honking? Get out of your car and try to get her number!

:D

Ok, nobody really honks or whistle at me. In fact, no guy even looks at me when I pass by, so I really don't know why men whistle or whatever. But, here's what I think... they just really want to get your attention and probably that they think it's cool to do that when they're around friends.

I've NEVER had that happen to me. Guess I'd like to hear it just once and then I'll post and tell everyone how it felt. ;)

'Course, once would probably be pretty exciting for me, so it would actually have to happen several times :pink: for me to get really bored or disgusted by it........

I don't really see how guys doing that really expcet their targets to respond positively. It just seems pretty meaningless--lacking direction. The girl probably already knows she is good looking. You might as well yell to her, "Hey, baby! The sky's blue!"

If you're going to catcall, why not put something behind it? Try complimenting something besides her looks, maybe:
"That was some hot overtaking of that bishop with your knight, girl!"

Or maybe just get right down to it:
"I'd sure like to take her out to a nice dinner and some light, meaningfull conversation!"

Hello all

This post is really part venting/part seeking a serious answer....although I don't know that there is one...

Why do some guys feel that its necessary to pay a 'compliment' by whistling at you or discussing you loudly with their friends? I'm not guy bashing, honest, its just I've had my perfectly pleasent evening stroll in the park ruined by a group of such individuals. Ugh.

I just don't get how thats supposed to work...

One thing you'll always notice is that it's always done when there are a group of guys to show off in front of. It's all just macho posturing in front of their mates to show what a stud they are, very sad but unfortunately a fact of life. I have to say on several occasions when I've seen it happen I've felt like apologising to the lady in question just so she's sure that not all men are brainless neanderthals. It can also be quite intimidating I'm sure for a girl especially if she's on her own. A friend of mine gets this kind of treatment quite a lot and I know she finds it like this. She used to give them back quite good put-downs but she found that engaging with the apes only encourages them.
