  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do people like Seventh-day Adventist and Adventist doctrine?

Pretty sure no one 'hates' the SDA's. It always annoys me when people confuse 'disagreeing with' as hating.
Some may not agree with the practice of homosexuality, but it doesn't mean they 'hate' homosexuals, yet many will put that slant on things.
Truth is very few people 'hate SDA's, homosexuals, or Muslims. They just don't necessarily agree with them.

Agreed. I do not "agree with everything the Baptists teach - but I don't hate them".

And could say the same about Presbyterians, Catholics and Jews. I find various points where I would differ with them - but I don't hate them. not sure why the "hate thread" is featured.

Indeed it is an extreme "leftist snowflake" paradigm that it taking over.

To be fair to sda, they are not the only ones who will tell you, you are justified by obeying the letter that kills/ condemns, but from my limited experience they stress it the most emphatically

The SDA are not that <<peculiar people>> Ellen White told them they are. The vast majority of Christian churches are worshippers of free-will which the Reformers denounced as idolatry without ado! And the SDA are free-willers. It is everybody's doctrine that <<you are justified by obeying the letter that kills/ condemns>>, and this drogma is but the heresy of heresies, the worshipping of the free will and sovereignty of man.
Christians are all the same ... well, almost all of them.

I choose obedience over rebellion when it comes to the Word of God.

How about you?
You are the one who says only non christians don't obey the moral law.

Do you fully or partly obey the moral law?

Your silence is deafening

See what I mean ...

"Do not take God's name in vain" Ex 20:7
"Honor your father and mother" Exodus 12

Your giving up on the idea of not taking God's name in vain,... or giving up on the idea of honoring your father and mother - is not 'as good a thing' as you may have at first imagined. But thankfully you can accept the Gospel, be born again, have the law written on your heart and mind - and not live in slavery to rebellion against the Word of God. As Paul says in Romans 6.

<<you can>> accept the Gospel, <<you can>> be born again, <<you can>> have the law written on your heart and mind - and <<you can>> not live in slavery to rebellion against the Word of God!

<<you can>>! THAT'S the heart of the grand Reformation issue versus Roman Catholicism. THIS, <<You Can>> aka Me Can, is the mother of every and all indecent, immoral and wayward daughters of the women in red of the Apocalypse.

The TC are an inflexible law. Perfectly obey them or you are guilty of transgressing them. There's no imaginary pass mark of obedience to them that can justify anyone.
There is nothing in those commandments about mercy or forgiveness, they are simply an inflexible law.
Perfectly obey them, or you are guilty

Now you, transgressing them (specifically the Fourth), claim that you are not guilty of disobeying them, but do perfectly well!?

No! Truth is, you suffer from the same malady that <<Perfectly obey them, or you are guilty>> in fact means, Disobey them at FREE WILL and you are not guilty of transgressing them, but are set free from them.

You see, there is NO, <or> at play; there's nothing conditional as if You Can anything!

Ostriches bury their head in the sand is some sort of odd, but true, saying.

What is the foundation on which the new covenant stands?

If there was no moral law/ TC Jesus need not have died at Calvary for our sins. Paul said he could faultlessly obey the legalistic law as a Pharisee, but not the moral law. Therefore it is possible to faultlessly obey the legalistic law.
What sin do you think Paul is speaking of in rom ch7:7-11?
What specific sin is he anguishing over in verses 14-23?

It all concerns the moral, not the legalistic law.
The TC are an inflexible law, that is why Paul stated the letter kills, for no human can faultlessly obey them, therefore you are guilty under them. That is why Paul said they were the ministration of death that brings condemnation

Hence Paul states:

All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it I written. Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the book of the law.
Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because. The righteous will live by faith

You quote reams of scripture but seem hesitant to reply as to whether you fully or partly obey the moral law, strange

What about yourself? Do you fully or partly obey the moral law or do you fully or partly disobey the moral law??

Are you afraid that you might do any? That you might actually fully obey the moral law or fully disobey the moral law?

What if you fully obeyed the moral law? Then you disobeyed the Commandment that says You must not LIE!
And if you fully disobeyed the moral law? Then you disobeyed the FULL <moral law> that says to Love God!

But you are AFRAID of the truth that you like "every man is under the Law for as long as he lives". WHY?! Christ cannot, and won't even bother to FIND you, anywhere else -- anywhere else than UNDER THE LAW. Or He certainly won't be unto you a Saviour. For what would He have saved you from? What would He save you of? There's no grace for anyone not in need of grace. Have you through simply disowning and distancing yourself from <<the moral law>> raised yourself above it's reach after its transgressors? And all just because of the one law, the Fourth Commandment? Isn't that overstressing and exaggeration of something so simple and straightforward as the Sabbath Day of the LORD GOD? Isn't the Lord of the Sabbath, YOUR God and isn't the Sabbath Day "the Sabbath of the LORD _your_ GOD"?! Amazing, the fear of so many!

For sin shall not be your master, for you are not under law but under grace
