Who Was Renee Nicole Good? Woman Fatally Shot By ICE Agent​

The victim's mother identified her to the Minnesota Star Tribune as Renee Nicole Good.

Donna Ganger told the newspaper that her daughter lived in the Twin Cities with her partner but declined to say if she lived in Minneapolis.

Ganger said her daughter was not involved in protests against immigration enforcement.

The woman was shot during a traffic stop in a residential neighborhood south of downtown, near historic immigrant markets and about a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020.

It appears she was married and that her wife was in the car with her at the time of the shooting, an eyewitness told Newsweek.

"They just shot her in the head, she crashed, and this, and then a lady came inside our yard, and she was crying in the snow. As far as the blood in front of our yard with snow on it, that's the blood from the lady who died, but it came off the other person's face. It came off her wife's face, that she had blood all over"

Safe to assume all the people who were outraged over the death of Ashli Babbit will be equally incensed over this?

Yes, I think breaking into a federal building during a massive riot that was trying to stop the peaceful transfer of power where there was credible threat to many high ranking politicians lives is probably going to get someone killed.

How are you justifying this completely different situation?

I'm waiting for the FBI to complete their investigation before making a decision on this shooting.
The agent who fired was in front of the vehicle and the vehicle was struck in the windshield and rear view mirror, consistent with self defense. If he fired into the window as she passed that would not be justified unless there was someone else in front of the vehicle.
The agent who fired had been struck by a vehicle and dragged in a previous incident.
I can't convict or clear him just based on a couple of videos from a bad angle and at a distance.
It's tragic that someone was killed, if you want to fight ICE do it in court so incidents like this don't happen

It doesn't matter. You know yourself that use of force scenarios are controversial, complicated and hard to figure out. None of us are in a position to say whether the the shooting is justified or not. I feel sorry for that officer because he may be entirely innocent. We need more information and those officers are supposed to be wearing body cams but we will never see the video. The FBI has taken over the investigation and Kristi Noem has pronounced the woman a domestic terrorist. It's over. Nothing to see here, folks, just move along.

The federal rules for firing at a vehicle:

Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury to the officer or others, and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle. Firearms may not be discharged from a moving vehicle except in exigent circumstances. In these situations, an officer must have an articulable reason for this use of deadly force.

The first part would be - theoretically - met in that you could make a reasonable argument that the agent believed she was trying to hit him. She wasn't - she was clearly trying to leave - but he may not have been able to tell that her wheels were turned. However, the second part is where I have questions. I see no attempt by the agent to get out of the way, despite the fact that he's near the driver's side corner of the car with a clear path to his right. Even if she had continued straight, two or three steps to the right would have put him completely out of harm's way. Rather, his first move as the car pulls forward is to reach for his gun.

In a video that shows the front of the vehicle you can see that she actually hit him with the vehicle, it all happened very fast and neither you, me or anyone else can say if this was justified or not from a couple of videos taken at bad angles.
What will come into play is whether a reasonable person would believe that they were in jeopardy , danger of death or serious bodily harm from the vehicle.
It looks like it from what I've seen however if the agent fired in the window as she passed by that would not be justified unless there was someone else in front of the vehicle.
I can't tell if he did or not from the videos but I did see a picture of the vehicle and there was a bullet hole in the windshield and one in the outside rear view mirror, which is consistent with self defense.
I will defer to the FBI to make the decision whether this was justified or not when they complete their investigation
Authorities often justify the use of deadly force (e.g., shooting a driver) by stating that the motorist was "weaponizing" their vehicle, presenting an imminent threat to officers or others. The specific circumstances of each incident determine if that justification is legally sound.

Why? DHS and the president apparently don’t need to wait for an investigation to already publicly call the woman guilty and place the blame for her death upon her.

And you don't need to wait on an investigation to declare the agent guilty based on a couple of videos at a bad angle.
If she had been shooting at him you would still find him in the wrong because he works for ICE.

If I was in charge I would remove ICE and CBP from all sanctuary cities, I would strictly enforce immigration law everywhere else so that people here illegally would have to go to sanctuary cities.

Maybe don't try to run over a law enforcement officer, and you won't get shot. *shrug* She hit him with her vehicle, and found out the consequences. He's currently in the hospital, per Trump.

Yeah I just saw the video also. There are at least two. She may have rammed someone earlier but at the time they shot her she was trying to drive off and wasn't targeting an agent.
